They know if it did turn out to even look like it could have been a Muslim this could be the type of thing that breaks the straw. It could very well turn into "The shot heard round the world" moment.

No way, French are way too frightened to offend Muslims.
They will say, “thank you sir, may I have another”

The operative is "poverty". A poor person can never do anything wrong.Sure they can, if they used to have a factory job.

Film pictures of how an unknown person moves on top of the Notre Dame cathedral before the big fire starts has attracted much attention in recent days. The video clip shows how the person lights up something similar to a fire. The French news agency AFP confirms that the video is genuine.
The fire against the historic cathedral Notre Dame in Paris came just a few days before the Easter celebration was to begin. During the week, several channels on YouTube and accounts on Twitter have published material from a webcam located on the Montparnass Tower about 2.3 kilometers from the cathedral. The webcam is provided by the company ViewSurf and film clips once an hour. ...
Again, from nearby public webcam on 4/15/19 there is a dark figure walking on the rooftop before the fire – NO SAFETY VEST – and no other workers present. This person creates TWO flashes of light or sparks. Pay attention. Better video resolution. #NotreDameFire pic.twitter.com/j3m9Px1hlc

The restoration of Notre Dame was a quiet victory that will have massive implication. I remember seeing footage of the burning in 2019, the open wound of the transept was like gazing into the Chernobyl of the West, into the mouth of Hell itself.
Then architects, laborers, and artisans from all over France (and some from the United States) came together to rebuild. Outlandish plans for modernist redesigns were rejected. Each piece of rubble was lovingly sorted, cleaned and reassembled. They worked with wood, and stone, and gilt and paint. And after five years the cathedral stood whole again. A triumph.
Was Notre Dame dragged through the mud, or in this case the ashes, to see what retains its luster? Indeed she was, and she was rebuilt. She would be rebuilt a thousand times. Each time the faithful go there to pray, as in the example of this wedding here, she is rebuilt in the hearts of those who love her and France.
Thank God that the rebuilders rejected satanist modernism.

Pictures posted on social media showed enormous plumes of smoke billowing into the city's skyline and flames engulfing large sections of the historic building.
According to French newspaper Le Monde, the fire broke out in the attic of the monument before spreading across the roof.
A spokesperson for the cathedral said the blaze was first reported at 5.50pm (GMT) and the building was evacuated soon after.
Officials in Paris said the fire could be linked to restoration works as the peak of the church is currently undergoing a 6 million-euro ($6.8 million) renovation project.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo says firefighters are trying to contain a 'terrible fire' at the city's Notre Cathedral.
Hidalgo urged residents of the French capital to stay away from the security perimeter around the Gothic-style church. The mayor says city officials are in touch with Roman Catholic diocese in Paris.
The cathedral is one the finest example of French Gothic architecture in Europe, and one of the most visited buildings in the world.
Notre Dame - which means 'Our Lady' - was build in 1160 and completed by 1260, and has been modified on a number of occasions throughout the century.
It is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Paris, and is visited by some 12million people every year.
