I took a ride with the Turpins (dad and son) as close to the lava as possible more than 15 years ago and it was one of the most memorable boat trips on very high surf and my gf back then didn't heed the hold on warning and got thrown around the boat on entering the bay on the way back and had to get a head wound treated. Best lava sighting and eruptions ever, we got as close as 20 ft. We had to constantly brush lava flakes off of our arms and the water was close to boiling hot there. We got enough warnings that this trip is potentially dangerous. It's your choice, nobody can predict a lava ball hitting the boat and what distance will be necessary to avoid it. Lawsuits like these should be thrown out. Take your kids to watching turtles if you want a risk free trip, not near active volcanoes.
