The perp is going so fast that they had no time to react. Within a single frame, they disappear, their bodies thrown like rag dolls down the street.

In the wake of Floyd, I began to notice many such cases, cases where white Americans, or white people around the world, suffered violence, with not even a fraction of the outcry that had been given to the strange case of Floyd.

Of course we all know crime is an inevitable part of human life. Victims and perpetrators are found in all walks of life, in all nationalities, in all ethnic groups (at different rates of course).

But what interested me were how certain crimes, with certain types of victims and perpetrators were depicted by the media. There is, indeed, a clear pattern.

Andy Probst, a retired police chief of Reno, in Nevada USA, was murdered by two ‘youths’ in a hit-and-run incident whilst they livestreamed it online.

You know Chicago area well enough I believe. There are just certain people and parts of the city you don't deal with. I did for 15 years. Visitors go to Navy Pier, Wrigley Field, Museum Campus, McCormick Place, etc. They simply don't see the dark side. It's dark.

I literally drove a beater car on purpose for 15 years because I didn't want to get car jacked. Always had a knife or blunt object in the car. Wasn't gonna dick with Chicago gun laws and victim becomes the criminal. Never dressed fancy or wore my watches. We had tenants that scared the fuck out of me if I'm being honest. I didn't deal with them often myself, but when I did I kept my head on a swivel.

Basically zero shock a Chicago tenant would kill their landlord. There's likely unreported battery of landlords across the city. Chicago makes evictions a pain in the ass. I'd never own investment property there personally. Generally takes a quarter/90 days to get people out legally. Ain't cheap either.

Yes, there are definite no-go areas to Chicago, maybe half the city. And a lot of the rest is still kind of iffy.

Still better than Detroit, where absolutely everywhere within the city boundaries is no-go.
