Anyone wants to risk a bet on the eventual number of sick people? Dead people?

Dr. Ioannidis: 0.05% to 1% is a reasonable range for what the data tell us now for the infection fatality rate, with a median of about 0.25%. The death rate in a given country depends a lot on the age-structure, who are the people infected, and how they are managed. For people younger than 45, the infection fatality rate is almost 0%. For 45 to 70, it is probably about 0.05-0.3%. For those above 70, it escalates substantially, to 1% or higher for those over 85. For frail, debilitated elderly people with multiple health problems who are infected in nursing homes, it can go up to 25% during major outbreaks in these facilities. ...

Greek Reporter: Finally, you had stated in March that, regarding lockdowns, they may be “bearable for a time, but how can policymakers tell if they are doing more good than harm?” if they are protracted. “School closures,” you stated, ”may reduce transmission rates” but may also “diminish the chances of developing herd immunity.” Even more important, perhaps, is this point you made — “One of the bottom lines is that we don’t know how long social distancing measures and lockdowns can be maintained without major consequences to the economy, society and mental health.

“Unpredictable evolutions may ensue, including financial crisis, unrest, civil strife, war and a meltdown of the social fabric.” Your thoughts, please, on how many of these things have indeed come to pass in this country as you had feared.

Dr. Ioannidis: I feel extremely sad that my predictions were verified. “Major consequences on the economy, society and mental health” have already occurred. I hope they are reversible, and this depends to a large extent on whether we can avoid prolonging the draconian lockdowns and manage to deal with COVID-19 in a smart, precision-risk targeted approach, rather than blindly shutting down everything. Similarly, we have already started to see the consequences of “financial crisis, unrest, and civil strife.” I hope it is not followed by “war and meltdown of the social fabric.”

Globally, the lockdown measures have increased the number of people at risk of starvation to 1.1 billion, and they are putting at risk millions of lives, with the potential resurgence of tuberculosis, childhood diseases like measles where vaccination programs are disrupted, and malaria. I hope that policymakers look at the big picture of all the potential problems and not only on the very important, but relatively thin slice of evidence that is COVID-19.

New outdoor dining tents stolen before Burien cafe could use them

KING COUNTY, Wash. — The owners of Salmon Creek Cafe said that before they could use their new outdoor dining tents to serve customers during the ongoing pandemic, the shelters were ripped from the ground and stolen earlier this week.

Some men who have survived Covid-19 say that the virus may have impacted their ability to get or maintain an erection.

In the context of Covid-19, men as young as 39 have been documented to experience erectile dysfunction as they recovered from the virus.

Currently, there are a handful of anecdotal reports, but no hard data nor large-scale study that documents the link, if any, between Covid-19 and erectile dysfunction. But for the men experiencing such issues, they’re convinced that the erectile dysfunction was caused by the novel coronavirus, because they never had issues with arousal or performance during sex prior to contracting the virus. Hunter Wessells, MD, a urologist at the University of Washington School of Medicine, urges other practitioners to collect this data on their patients. “It’s important to study it, because the total number of people involved may be in the millions and across all age ranges,” he says.

I know you're quoting from the article, but lol. You're not 13-25 anymore approaching 40. My buddies that are open enough to talk about it, mid/late 30's, have had occasional issues. It's not remotely uncommon. We were built to fuck when we were teens. Anyone expecting a rock hard dick every time is delusional once they reach 35. Layer on routines, work, health, whiskey dick, and likely the same partner at the age for many, is it all that surprising? So they now blame Covid?

This virus is getting more retarded by the day.

Happy to hear that, since I own ATRS too, on mell's recommendation. It's done well for me.

The above video is why all government employees should get a 10% pay cut until we open back up. After all, less tax revenuer is coming in, so the government should have to cut back just like the affected businesses had to do.

Having some insider knowledge, 10% ain't gonna be close to making a dent in the problem with reduced wages. It's bad. I don't even know if laying off 10% of government work force would make a difference at this point in many places/cities. Between the multitude of sales, income, amusement, gas taxes, etc., many places are down 30-40% of what the budgeted revenue was. Consumption taxes are the worst possible idea ever thought of and hurt the middle and lower classes the most.

If your state doesn't have sales taxes, it might be a better situation. A place like Chicago and IL as a whole is fucked. Especially with fucked pensions. I'm sure it's similar in CA as well. They're going to have to lay off Gov. workers. That results in less income tax even further. Potential loss of property due to job loss. This could turn into a really hot mess by spring and early summer. Not predicting that it will happen, but the numbers are not on big city and municipalities side. It's a problem.

And we cannot bail them out. It would be unprecedented. Not that they do now, but local governments would stop caring about budgeting properly. The ensuing collapse down the road would be pretty extreme as they'd just assume the Federal government would save them.

132 pages is what I'm more shocked about. That seems like a staggering amount of pages about a liquid injected into someone. Unless it's research notes or something. Side effects should be a page at worst in 12pt font. Otherwise is the medication worse than the disease/issue?

I believe bailing out these bloated blue areas is exactly what Biden/Harris have in mind.

Twitter suspends pro-hydroxychloroquine Doctor Zev Zelenko
By Didi Rankovic
Posted 9:00 am
Support of HCQ has often been censored on Twitter.

Twitter on Sunday permanently suspended the account of Dr. Zev Zelenko, the creator of the Zelenko HCQ protocol, saying that the decision came as the account was disseminating medical misinformation.

But in announcing the ban, Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin called the move "outrageous" while describing Dr. Zelenko's protocol as having saved thousands of lives.

It's unclear from the tweet if the New York-based physician's general stance on the coronavirus pandemic, available treatment and its efficiency, or a specific set of posts was what made Twitter decide to ban him from the platform.

Back in July, Zelenko published a study focusing on Covid 19 outpatients and what effect early risk stratified treatment using zinc and low doses of Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin had in reducing these patients' hospitalizations, and fatal outcomes.

The protocol, published online, is a retrospective study relying on outpatient data. What sets this analysis apart is that it followed the progress in 5-day treatment of patients after their first visit and outside the hospital setting, while most other studies dealt with the effectiveness of treatment with drugs of those patients whose condition had already severely deteriorated and who were hospitalized.

The result of Zelenko's study - done in collaboration with two Germany-based scientists, Dr. Roland Derwand and Professor Martin Scholz of Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf - were encouraging. The conclusion of the paper that was offered for peer review was that this type of treatment of those treated outside of hospitals resulted in five time less need for hospitalization, and deaths.

If they know who ratted them out they need to SWAT them back. If they don't - they should SWAT all their fucking neighbors one by one.
