Bernie's home state of Vermont passed legislation on this back in 2011, only to declare a few years later that it couldn't foot the bill w/o adding 11% taxes on all workers and businesses in the state.

That would have made ALL of Vermont's exports like maple syrup, cheddar cheeses, etc, tank across the country next to states which could then match VT's quality with the right price.
