There are similarities in approach, but the big difference is Japan closed schools while Sweden did not. Japan is currently targeting schools to reopen in April. From what I can tell, Sweden has at least 5 times fewer CT scanners (per million people) than Japan. Japan treats symptoms; it uses CT scans to find the infamous glassy opacities in lungs. it can then target care to individuals needing treatment. Will be interesting to see how this unfolds in both countries.

Good point, let's take a look at the difference between Norway and Sweden in a month or two.

This table shows the death rates per one million as of March 30, 2020. Sweden currently has a death rate twice that of Norway. This will be interesting to monitor over time (as the difference may change once herd immunity kicks in). Also of note, New York state (at 45.4 deaths per million) is about tied with the Netherlands. And FWIW, the United States at 33.2 deaths per million people is between Sweden and Norway.
