When a 61-year-old man was stabbed in the back on his Napa County property Saturday morning, he pulled the knife out of his back and stabbed the assailant, officials said.
Andrew Kenneth Dixon, 33, is accused of stabbing the Napa County man and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said. Both the homeowner and Dixon are recovering from non-life-threatening stab wounds.
The ordeal began when the power went out at the home on the 5200 block of Silverado Trail on Saturday morning. The homeowner stepped outside to check the electrical box, and that’s when he reportedly noticed a trespasser on his property. Shortly after, Dixon allegedly stabbed the property owner in the back and a fight ensued with the two wrestling on the ground, each trying to get control of the knife, sheriff’s office spokesperson Henry Wofford said.
“The homeowner pulled the knife from his back and stabbed the suspect in his torso,” Wofford said.
“It was literally a fight for his life,” he added. “This is a 61-year-old victim fighting someone nearly half his age.”
A family member called 911 at about 9:30 a.m., and the homeowner was able to hold Dixon until deputies arrived, according to the sheriff’s office.
“We’re happy this homeowner is still alive,” Wofford said. “This could have been a much worse outcome. We’re glad a family member called 911. The fact that he’s recovering at home is great news.”
The homeowner and suspect reportedly did not know one another. Dixon was born in Long Beach, California, but has been living in the Napa County area and was reportedly transient, Wofford said.
“There’s evidence that the suspect was directly tied to turning off the power on the man’s home,” he said.

These criminal masterminds won the lottery. They tried to kick down the door of the one gun owner in all of Seattle.
A Redwood City man died after he was shot while allegedly trying to rob a gun store in central Livermore on Sunday afternoon.
The owner of East Bay Firearms, who fired the two rounds that ultimately proved fatal, is not considered to be a suspect in a crime at this point as investigators have initially categorized the shooting as an apparent act of self-defense, according to the Livermore Police Department.
Confirming details for the first time late Monday morning, police said the call came in around 2:30 p.m. Sunday about a report of a robbery at the gun store on First Street.
Police said when officers arrived they found a 28-year-old Redwood City man suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man died from his injuries at the scene. His name has not been released publicly yet, with family notification still pending.
The subsequent investigation preliminarily revealed that the Redwood City man entered the gun store acting suspiciously while wearing a mask, gloves and a hooded sweatshirt over his head, according to police.
"According to witness statements, he then attempted to rob the gun store by taking a firearm while armed with a hammer. The gun store owner fired two rounds fatally wounding the man," police said.
The gun store owner, whose name has not been confirmed publicly, has been cooperating with the investigation by the department's criminal investigations unit, according to police. "At this stage in the investigation, it appears that this was a case of self-defense," police added.
Police said their investigation revealed that a 28-year-old man from Redwood City entered East Bay Firearms in the 4000 block of First Street around 2:30 p.m.
The burglar was wearing a mask, gloves, and a hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head.
He was reportedly “acting suspicious.”
Witnesses told police that the crook then tried to rob the gun store by taking a firearm while armed with a hammer.
The gun store owner responded by firing two rounds, fatally wounding the man, police said.
Police arrived at the scene to find the man suffering from a gunshot.
Along with paramedics, they performed lifesaving measures.
However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a confluence of gun-control and local news, this headline popped up in my feed yesterday: Gainesville man shot by homeowner defending himself, his children.
A “Gainesville man” was locked up in the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday. Back in June, Semaj Atkins, 21, knocked on someone’s door, and when the homeowner answered, Atkins pulled a gun on him. The alert and apparently quiet spry homeowner darted inside while Atkins fired into the house. The defiant homeowner snatched up his own gun and returned fire, protecting himself and his children, who were home.
Pro tip: practice your shooting before you invade somebody’s home in Florida. We shoot back. Between the two, the homeowner had much better aim than Atkins. The failed home invader was injured, and fled the scene in a very cowardly manner.
A short time later, Atkins was stopped by Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies while driving away, bleeding from a gunshot wound to the chest. Apparently Atkins informed police that the homeowner started it. It took until this month for ballistics to come back proving the homeowner’s side of the story.
Buh bye!

This is becoming a common theme. Perhaps thugs should stop thinking of middle class white families as defenseless victims.

The video captured by KABC shows the father walking to the front door while grabbing for his keys. Then, two intruders jump at the gate.
One intruder races up to the front door. The homeowner then tosses his tea at him, pulls out his gun, and starts shooting at both suspects.
The two masked thugs split as one fires back at the homeowner. The father then follows one suspect, who hops over the side fence, while the other hops over the front gate and runs away.

Middle class with careers have to worry about losing everything in court and even jail time. The "law" is more concerning than the thug.
