Yesterday was orange and smoky smelling in Frazier Park, in the mountains South of Bakersfield. Sun was dull orange in the sky till well past 10am.

I guess I need a better monitor to see the beam? Good excuse to go find a nice HDR 4K ultrawide since working from home is now de rigueur.

Still orange. I wonder if God would make it Trumpian Orange and drive the LibbyFucks crazy around here. Somebody needs to sky-write MAGA.

Edit: on second thought, the quality index has been steadily decreasing for the last 2 hours.

I think i heard an hysterical IHL with secretary glasses screaming "OrangeSkyBad!".

Very strange sunrise and light this morning in the East Bay as well. Even stranger, the AQI was in the green zone for our area.

At least there is no smoking smell in s bay though the sky looks strange. Good that I can see sun light now this afternoon.

I can see it if I let him play it over and over.

It's just a straight line of light gray.

I can imagine it's just an artifact of imaging somehow. Seems likelier than an energy beam.

National Weather Service forecaster Roger Gass explained wildfire smoke from the August Complex fires in Mendocino County has traveled more than 100 miles to the Bay Area. The mass of polluted air is hovering high in the atmosphere above the marine layer that pushed inland from the Pacific Ocean this morning.
"That's the reason it doesn’t smell smokey but the sky is a different color," explained Gass. "This fire is farther away so the smoke is getting lofted into the atmosphere and lofted over us."
Jan Null, a meteorologist who runs a private forecasting service called Golden Gate Weather Services, added that the marine inversion layer acts as a barrier. "That’s why air quality isn’t too bad this morning," Null said. "The smoke is not able to mix down through the inversion. The smoke is also sort of traveling past us."
Tuesday's conditions are different from recent weeks when smoke from nearby blazes, located directly within the boundaries of the Bay Area, traveled low in the atmosphere, nearly hugging the ground. The Bay Area smelled like a campfire for weeks.

Since you can see other parallel lines, I'm pretty sure it's just some glitch in image processing.

My money would be on artifact, too, but I still can't see it. It's interesting how excited he got about it, like he had the proof.

CA Bay area is dark like the crack of dawn, but its 11am. Thick wildfire smoke above blocking the sun.

Now its 12 noon but feels like 5am outside.

Still orange in Santa Cruz, but starting to turn regular gray around Pleasure Point.

Does make me wonder what things were like in California two centuries ago before statehood and the fire suppression techniques of the last century....
