Going to be delicious I bet! Not sure if $3.49/lb is a great deal. The local Kroger was practically dumping many good looking cuts of pork for $0.79/lb for months this year.

$3.48 is an excellent deal some moron at the store mislabeled Outside Skirt Steak as Pork Belly.

There were about a 5 packs out of about 20 mislabeled. I showed these to the Manager just to show him, he said he would fix it, and told me if I wanted to purchase it at that price I could. so I took it. They wanted $14.99 a lb for it.

If I'm going to spend that kind of coin on Meat, I wont be buying utility meat from the immigrant grocery store. I'll go to a quality butcher or dare I say Publix. (Which I avoid because of their high hefty prices.) But I would pay $14.99 lb at Publix, if that were the going price, because they have meat that has better marbling than Bravo now Key Foods.

Aah, I missed that detail. Serendipity in the meat department!

I do the bulk of my food shopping at the local Kroger low end store. It's the reliably cheapest store that doesn't have a sombrero or chili pepper in the font of their sign lettering. Meat department is hit or miss. Some days it looks like the unwanted and spoiled cuts from every other store in the region all priced at top dollar, other times it's brimming with fresh and desirable cuts at very competitive prices. Love it when ribeye roasts go on sale $2.99/lb!

Why TF is the production date DDMMYYYY while the use by date is MMDDYYYY format on the same label?

October 16 production date, they do have to age the beef for a month. I think that production date was the date of the cow hanging in the cooler not the date the side of beef was butchered.

Before Corona fucked up supply lines, I had another immigrant grocer I went to that I drove 4 miles to get to. I used to go every Saturday morning before 10am.
They would have Rib Eyes that were like $3.99 or even $2.99 2 inch thick Tomahawk steaks. $4.99 1 1/2 NY Strip Steaks, and $3.99 half inch thick TBone steaks.
I would load up the cart with huge $5.00 Ribeye Tomahawk steaks, $5.00 two pack NY Strip Steaks. and $7.00 twin packs of TBone steaks.

I would say that only 10% of the time it was tough hard lean meat. Most of the times it had decent marbling and good tender meat.

Since Corona all of those cuts are $7.99 lb on average Wich turns out to be $10 to $15 per pack I used to get for 1/3 of that. I hope they'll return one day.
