So about twice a day for the last 5 days at least. Gab will briefly load and give me glance of what is going on at that time. There's about 3 scroll bars worth of content. Then the ajax stops autoloading more, and when I refresh I keep getting the Gab branded Cloudfare error page. But during that brief glimpse I get to see what's going on. Now they have Catturd on Gab, and Andrew's posts naturally, I would expect to see them. But how are they able to post so prolifically and how are they getting over 4,000 likes and reposts? Then it dawned on me. Andrew Tobra is throttling the site, and is allowing the Pro paid users over the lowly free moochers. It's the only way to explain it, because even with my limited glimpse I'm not able to like or repost any posts, let alone reply. So how are Pro users able to post so many prolific posts, and how are thousands of people not only able to see it, but give impressions?
I don't think he's putting up as much hardware as he was making it out to be. He's under attack, and between the Denial of Service attacks, and the quintuple traffic. He's getting creative with the doorman
Gab adds servers Good for about 10 minutes Everybody F5ing the site to post something starts doing shit Slows to a crawl for the next 8 hours. They add more servers Repeat.
No I've been through every iteration of that with Gab, I signed up within days of them first going live.
This time something different. As those lucky enough to have post during this period, don't seem to be talking about any outages for them. Other than a page loading slow. At least their pages are loading.
I still like Gab and can understand if he is using clever firewall to give traffic preference to a pool of members based on the ip they logged in from. I think it's clever if that's what he's doing. They had to make their own stack from scratch, no vender would work with them. So they MUST have some innovative shit on the back end. Like most great Social media companies. They all started out pretty primitive on the front end, but had all kinds of new innovative cutting edge tech they were pioneering in the back end.
When I do get the site to load, there are many new posts with 4k and 5k likes, but all of the ones that are posting are people I know that have the pro Account. And the most likes we ever seeing on that site even for the most prolific posters, were 300. Most well like members max out at about 30 likes. I rarely get more than 10. Like here people don't need their egos stroked with likes. And most likes are well earned. But now seeing thousands, they are probably putting Twittergees with high impressions on their do not throttle list.
I'm sure they are putting in more servers as well.
