From a reader:

I've commented to a few others about my perceptions, exactly the same as in the article above.

This is a major reason I suspect that your "Wuhan" virus is my "Ft Detrick" virus -- that the US bioweapons people created it and released it overseas to make it look like it came from there, to cover the criminal failure and looting of our one-percenters, who have wrecked our economy with their policies of peasant labor in across the Rio Grande, skilled labor deported overseas, create a financialization economy to replace our once-unrivaled manufacturing economy, no taxes or penalties for hi-tech, banks, wall street etc.

I was interested in getting a phone with good privacy, the Librem, but they can't say when it will be available because they can't get parts.

My laptop is dying too, and I looked into the Dell XPS 13, but guess what? Six week lead time because of supply chain issues, and they won't even commit to six weeks.

Is anybody else annoyed that the main character trait of Pete Butigege is that he's gay? I mean, that's his entire schtick. He's gay.

The Great Reset Talking Point is that "Now everything is going to be local and organic!"

That is what Wife's Facebook Small Lib Arts College Friends are repeating as NPC hotspots.

Today I tried to buy toothpicks at Safeway, but they were out.

Then I tried to buy a Ritter chocolate bar at TJ, but they were out.

I found toothpicks at Walgreens, but there are lots of noticeable gaps on the shelves there.

This just in! College students newly out of the house but still supported by parents/student loans for a few more years before a "real job" harbor naive optimism toward the world's hardships and problems!

In Houston you go to craigslist transactions heavily armed. Nothing against that but I am too old for shootouts

I've read that in Argentina, houses are literally paid for with a suitcase full of cash. The transaction is done in the lobby of a bank to take advantage of bank security, no one in Argentina trusts the banks anymore after they confiscated everyone's dollar savings.

With a supply chain crisis facing the country, Buttegg talks about directing federal dollars to make sure "Buses" carrying "Black or Puerto Rican kids" to the "Beach" aren't enocuntering "underpasses "too low" on the way, because that must have been Ray's Cyst.

This is true. NOBODY keeps dollars in banks. It happened at least twice in the past decade or so that I can recall.

Yesterday I noticed a shortage of bread at Publix, their selection was very slim. And they didn't have any Publix Brand breads.
This comes at a time, I have mastered several bread techniques and have just been itching for it to become feasible for me to make bread regularly.
Hoagie Rolls, Hotdog Rolls, Kaiser Rolls, Bagels, Asian Milk or Water Roux bread, and Italian.

Finally got the good shit yeast, stay away from that crappy Fleishman's it's always expired or under performs. And don't be afraid to let the ole Kitchen Aide mixer go to town on it. Just let it go, with the dough hook, until you almost forget that it's even running, because you've tuned the noise out.

I presume you mean the bread aisle, where the Wonder Bread et al is, and not the in-store bakery.
Publix opened recently here in Virginia. All their bakery bread, except the Tuscan Boule, is Cuban Bread. That is, no matter whether it is French, Italian, Mountain, or round, it is just a different shape of the same Cuban bread. I call Cuban bread "balloon bread," since it is mostly air. Pick up a large "Italian" loaf and it weighs next to nothing. However, the Publix Tuscan Boule is hefty and makes great fried ham and cheese sandwiches.
291   Tenpoundbass   2021 Dec 6, 8:10pm

Publix bakery bread crust is too leathery and chewy. I like a good rigid crunch baguette, and French Bread, with a fluffy pillow in the middle.

Yes as for the bread isle in question. I made fried grouper sandwiches last evening. But I wanted some nice Kaiser rolls to eat them on. The Publix bakery only had one pack on hand, and they didn't look their best So I went to get the Wonder Big buns(these were thick big chunks of beer battered fish). And they were out of those too. That's when I noticed the lack of selection, and settled on some crappy Pentridge Farms Regulation sized shitty sandwich bun.

Ah yes, the Regulation SSS bun, not a crowd pleaser but gets the job done.

Went to Lowe's and they had three aisles of plastic storage boxes, one kind each row. They could have nested them and fit them all in half an aisle but they had empty boxes, lid on, placed on the shelves. Waste of space but at least the shelves weren't empty.

Yeah, we fancy like Applebee's on a date night

Aye, that's how we do, how we do, fancy like, oh

(Fancy like an oh)

Don't need no Tesla to impress her
My girl is happy rollin' on a Vespa (There she go)
Don't need no mansion to get romancin' (No mansion, woo)
She's super fine, double wide, slow dancin' (Slow dancin')

From walker Hayes “fancy like”
