Would it be weird to slash the tires on your own car so your wife doesn't go get this shit? I think I'm shifting her mindset, but I'm ready to go loco on the situation if I can't stop her via rational thought. She's not dead set on it either. I honestly don't even care if there are legit side effects to any of the vaccines or not. My wife is healthy and young. Covid won't kill her or me. We haven't killed our mom's yet and have seen them a decent amount (dads are dead). We haven't killed our kids. We've traveled frequently, though it was "recommended" (not law) that we don't. We've been in the known presence (after the fact) of 2 active covid cases for 5+ hours in a not ventilated basement with about 20 people.

I'm very anecdotal. If I see less private jets at the airport I drive by over 6 months to a year, something is going on. Less trains going through town. Seeing less trucks on the expressway with obvious things like lumber. We have a set and forget mindset with investing and did a review today with our advisor and we're up 50% YoY. People not working and gains like that are fucked up. Something ain't right. A senile POTUS. There are too many boxes being checked that things are fucked up. And I don't think stimulus is the explanation for the most part, it just doesn't hurt.

I think Trump set up a solid economy and I think the stimulus has put the blindfold on us as to what reality is. All so we could get the oldest and least logical POTUS in the history of our country. I hope whoever is pulling the puppet strings like what they've created. I don't think this ends well.

100% agree. We went to a nice dinner and they told us they will have 50% capacity (i guess those are the guidelines)

You won't get sick from Covid if you're healthy. I've only known one person that "kind" of got sick out of 30+ people positive tested and it was likely a withdrawal from certain behavior. You won't be sick for 2 weeks. You lose smell and think you have a sinus infection. I've been around people with active covid cases unknowingly. It's not highly transmissible.

There's also no conspiracy or anti-vax situation here. You literally won't die from Covid if you're under 60 and are not a land whale. Beer is the worst thing I ingest into my body. IL has been better than I would have expected outside of Chicago with not giving a fuck about covid. Situation is clearly different in CA. The Newsom recall action is great. That's what needs to happen. These are executive orders and not legally enforceable.

I believe you've said you're an IC with your programming work. So you are essentially your own business. But it's just you contracting your work out. Imagine if you had a secretary or other staff and your government basically shuts you down. You've met your secretaries kids, etc. You do what you have to and keep the doors open. I believe my neighbor was trying to politely shame me when he asked if I got my shot - so I politely replied and said I wouldn't consider it until it had actually passed FDA approval and safety checks; this had the side effect of me questioning his intelligence. We're noticing the mental effects on the older vaccine recipients we know in Santa Cruz. Short term memory loss seems to be marked in people who were fine before the jab. They are also a bit spacey and not nailed down.

The second point you made is spot on. I always tip very well for exceptional service if I sit in a restaurant! If I pick up food, I dont tip. There is no service besides handing food over.

First of all it's not my fucking problem if ones job doesn't pay more - maybe reducing competition from illegal aliens will drive ones wages up, or maybe ones qualifications are just shitty. Second, I've known many waitresses who deliberately put off any "higher" education because they made $200k+ during the good years easily, so they should have plenty for the bad years, not to mention that quite a bit of that is tax free. Many "higher" degrees jobs pay minimum wage or only slightly more, and the minimum wage in SF is $15 which is quite high for a job where you do get tips if you actually serve your guests. Third, if a billionaire wants my coding skills and hires me for an hourly wage I should expect them to give me a couple grand of tips because they own and make 100x of what I do? No, you get paid for the job you do and if you do it well, esp. in the service industry, you get tipped quite well by everybody according to their means. Add in all those scam mandates the customer already has to pay on top of the bill and the service should be exceptional.
