The left appears to have no understanding of the degree to which the adoption of gender ideology by social institutions destroyed the credibility and legitimacy of those institutions. To make matters even worse, the left appears to have no idea WHY the adoption of gender ideology was so corrosive to the credibility and legitimacy of the social institutions that adopted it.

The left seems to have thought that if all the sense-making institutions of the west proclaimed in unison that:

-Men can become women
-Children can choose their gender
-12 year olds should be allowed to get puberty blockers if they want to change their sex
-Biological males who identify as women ought to be able to compete in women’s sports

this would result in the ideas and values of gender ideology being adopted by the public. It appears that the writers, publishers, thinkers, academics, and elite professionals believed that if medical professionals, academics, journalists, legislators, and public intellectuals proclaimed this new understanding of sex and gender to be a fact the public would follow suit, and in time that gender ideology would come to be seen as clear and obvious common sense.

But that is not what happened.

What actually happened was that the general public stood aghast at the fact that their prestigious social institutions could possibly adopt such obviously terrible ideas. People could not believe their eyes when academics and doctors with advance degrees proclaimed that 12 years olds could change their gender, and they were shocked when journalists not only refused the challenge these claims, but actively participated in proclaiming these claims to be stone cold fact. Not only did the public refuse to adopt these views, but they actively rejected them. ...

Following the Marxist thinker Antonio Gramsci, large portions of the left came to believe that the culture at large functioned as a sort of enormous apparatus of social control that operated by inculcating certain norms, ideas, beliefs and values into the consciousness of the general public. The idea is that the ruling class can embed its ideas, values, and beliefs into the culture, and this will result in the general public ends adopting the values and beliefs that are embedded into the culture by the ruling class.

Outraged mother Karen Powers delivered an impassioned speech at the meeting, drawing loud applause from other parents.

“A longtime beloved coach of the girls’ volleyball team quit, and if she is here or watching, I have the utmost respect for you standing firm on your morals and values,” she said before shouting:

“It’s not a girl’s responsibility to feel uncomfortable or unsafe for the sake of a boy pretending to be a girl! He should be participating in sports designated for boys because he will always be one! ...

Angela Christman, a teacher and mother, condemned the district’s policies as a violation of privacy and safety.

“My daughter will not hide in spaces where she was told she would be protected.

“And she will not be counseled into feeling comfortable taking her clothes off in front of a 6-foot-4 biological male, and frankly, it’s criminal that that’s the solution that you offer.”

Another mother, Vickie Wilson, called the policy “egregiously unfair” and accused the district of pushing harmful ideology.

“If you actually cared about these kids, you wouldn’t promote a dangerous ideology that does not get to the root of their problems.

“It pushes experimental and dangerous interventions that enable greedy people to turn them into lifelong lucrative patients, very often leading to serious regret and higher suicidality.”

Meanwhile, here's what anyone with a brain knew within hours of the shooting yesterday.

The killer in Minnesota was a young man who thought he was a girl, his mom worked at the school he shot up, and he formerly attended the same school.

He had a sticker of a transgender flag with an AK-47 and the word "equality," showcasing common "Trantifa" (transgender Antifa) threats of violence.

He also mocked Christ and Christians, as well as Jews.

He drew a layout of the church and then stabbed it with a knife. On video.

But the most prestigious newspaper on the planet doesn't know what his motive is. They made sure to call him a "her" though!! ...

It's funny how politicians, police, and the media spout out a motive immediately when, say, a Catholic kid wearing a MAGA hat is on TV.
They immediately pronounced that Nicholas Sandmann was harassing a Native America guy (a lie). They knew that Kyle Rittenhouse was a murderer (a lie). They said Derek Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd's neck (a lie) because of systemic racism (a lie). They said a young man shot up an Asian massage parlor in Georgia because he was racist (a lie). They said Donald Trump thinks white supremacists are "very fine people" (a lie).

All the fake news does is give us lies about motive when it fits their agenda.
But when it comes to Islamic terrorism or Trantifa shooters with demonic scribblings who target churches for the expressed desire of killing Christian kids?

MOTIVE UNKNOWN!!

I attended high school between 1981-1985. We didn’t have any transgender students. It wasn’t a “thing.” Any hint of effeminate male behavior was mercilessly mocked and socially extinguished before it could spread or get worse. Experts hadn’t yet conceived their dangerous ideas about kids gobbling handfuls of gender-bending hormone pills to magically opt out of their sexual “assignment.” ...

Then, as now, post-pubescent teenagers faced a difficult time navigating the flood of unfamiliar normal hormones that cause their erratic emotions to wildly seesaw. ...

It seems unimaginable how modern experts believe adding more hormones to that already unmanageable stew produces any beneficial effect. Never mind that they’re also constantly experimenting with dosages and jacking hormone levels whenever body hair crops up. But it’s not unimaginable that pushing kids who are already struggling with their normal emotional states into artificially intensified and unnatural hormonal levels would cause some of them to experience truly unmanageable feelings.

Take that infernal landscape, then air-drop those same over-hormoned, struggling kids right into the toxic high-school environment, bursting with non-trans kids who are also trying to master emotional control, and are seething with passive-aggressive rage about being forced to be nice to the trans kids, when all their biological instincts are to enforce social norms by bullying the effeminate kids into conforming.

Behold: the progressive notion of “progress.” Pure chaos, misery, and despair, with the added insult of adults unhelpfully assuring these poor, deluded children that they are “normal”— when that’s the last thing they feel like. No wonder some of them decide life isn’t much fun, if this is “normal.”

Robin/Robert Westman’s parents and teachers promised him that everything would get better once he transitioned into gender-adjusted adulthood. But they lied. It didn’t get better. It doesn’t surprise me at all that Westman returned to the original source of his pain —his school— even though he’d graduated seven years before in 2017.

Westman was the perpetrator. He’s dead now. And a whole lot of completely innocent folks are also dead or injured. But Westman wasn’t the only one responsible for what happened.

“we are the religion of peace” they tell you.

but what they say to one another is often very different.

this is seen as neither wrong nor shameful, it’s a simple expression of effective will to power. it persists because it works. it’s selected for. it’s a dominant meme and to the extent that the population you seek to dominate does not understand this, they become easy pickings. you scream about “rights” when you are a minority, then seek to take them away from everyone else once you are in power.

and they fall for it. ...

demand rights and accommodation as a minority then grant none once in power.

you saw this with the “woke” and DEI tribes. they began asking for accommodation, for tolerance, for a place in companies and universities. then, they went “full soviet” once they had amassed sufficient power. disagreement meant you were racist, sexist, phobic and would be cast out in cancel culture expulsion or dragged into struggle sessions for “re-education.” all tolerance was gone. ...

it’s about who is organized and who is committed. it’s very hard for peaceful people, especially alone, to hold ground against unpeaceful people who are always spoiling for a fight and ready to die on hills of tribal doctrine and dominance.

“trans” is an astonishing example of this.

this is a tiny tribe punching WAY above its weight because its members are wildly devoted in the way only the pathological can be.

much of what is going on with “trans” is not even about gender. this has become the scupper for the maladapted, the magic words that make them untouchable and powerful and possibly get them into college. actual gender seems increasingly incidental.

this is a VERY bad way to build a tribe.

its whole purpose bends to demanding tolerance of the intolerable.

last week in minneapolis, this 22-23 (reports vary) year old biological male DBA “robin” the trans-woman shot up a church full of schoolkids. his weapons were bedecked with trans and anti-trump regalia and he left behind a manifesto of wild claims and violent ideation as well as missives about wishing he had never been brainwashed into trans but feeling unable to renounce for fear of consequence and censure.

the mayor says “let’s not make this about trans.”

why? because fail to appease them and the group goes wild.

Yesterday, the Washington Post ran a story in which it only quoted conservatives, headlined, “DOJ discusses a potential ban on transgender people owning firearms.” But the story is much craftier and more explosive than the hot takes suggest. ...

Federal law already precludes gun ownership by certifiably crazy people. The mandatory federal background check form has long included a box asking, “Have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defective OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution?” ...

So, and this is the delicious part, the leakers said DOJ authorities discussed working with ATF to expand the definition of a disqualifying mental health status to include people who are transgender. Adjudicated metal defective, committed to an asylum, or transgender?

In other words, they are ‘considering’ making transgenderism a federally recognized and dangerous mental illness (which it always used to be until activists successfully lobbied for a change, but whatever).

That idea isn’t as crazy as people who believe they can swap genders. For some reason, some parts of the public are starting to think that the transgender movement has an unhealthy relationship with firearms. ...

...now progressives face the impossible task of deciding whether to get behind “gun control” or come out for Second Amendment rights.

Some conservatives got it. I understand concerns about “red flag” laws and stuff, but we should sit this one out. For example:

In other words, keep pushing the politics, and we’ll officially declare trans people crazier than rabid bedbugs. Which would only be naming an inconvenient truth, but I digress.
