Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in an interview was confronted with Pakistan's duplicitous stand on Osama Bin Laden and his deaths at the hands of American forces in Afghanistan.
During the interview, Gen (retd) Musharraf also said that terrorist like Osama bin Laden and Jalaluddin Haqqani were “Pakistani heroes”. “In 1979, we had introduced religious militancy in Afghanistan to benefit Pakistan, and to push the Soviets out of the country. We brought Mujahideen from all over the world, we trained them and supplied weapons to them. We trained the Taliban, sent them in. They were our heroes. Haqqani was our hero. Osama bin Laden was our hero. Ayman al-Zawahiri was our hero. Then the global environment changed. The world started viewing things differently. Our heroes were turned into villains.”…
Why only Pakistanis ? Even the US establishment thought OBL was a hero while he was fighting the Soviets - the key operative word here is "was".
In the US, they are no longer counted as heroes, but one shouldn't be surprised if the Pakistani establishment still considers them as heroes.
Pakistan - the nation - is like a prostitute - whoever pays her bills, she will toe their line. Nobody in the Pakistan establishment has the guts to bring up the plight of Uighur's, as long as the Chinese sugar daddy is footing her bills.
