I have a TV which probably runs on Android and is connected to internet tubes. I can get Rumble app, a few other similar site apps, including one for Rutube which I will not install, but when I try to find and install Odysee app, it says "LBRY app not available". Since I am a paranoid conspiracy theorist, I think that it would make sense for Google/android to not allow using Odysee as it will compete with youtube. Is there a way how I can watch Odysee on TV?

1. Buy a Roku
2. Add Odysee unofficial channel

Some apps require other apps to be installed.

I'm guessing this is what they mean

Can you use a browser on that TV?

The cure for app hell is to just use the browser whenever possible.

These days everything is so convoluted, I'm quickly becoming a luddite. I don't mind complex and sophisticated, but clunky, fiddly and convoluted, I don't have any patience for.
My Computer Supremacy days are quickly getting behind me, I have no will to keep up. It has become so convoluted for what limited information you get out of devices. Add the lack of privacy or control. There may a day in my near future, I won't have anything with a microprocessor on it.

That's exactly how I feel about apps vs the browser.

The moment I'm told to install something, I bail out.

But I have no problem hitting whatever URL with the browser.

will check out. Roku stick may be a solution.

You a luddite? The man who banged out that SQL code in a day? I guess you are not on the list of those looking forward to Windows 11.

I watched one of those Indian scammer gets scammed by someone else videos last week where he had Windows 11. The Indian scammer didn't even blink lol...

don't know, this thread is first time I heard of something named "roku"

Supposedly you can screencast on some TV's from your internet connected devices, might be worth a shot, although I've never been able to get that working. Roku is an option if they have that app, but everything is an app with them. Personally, I'd go with adding your TV screen to your laptop as an additional monitor, and play stuff directly from your laptop. Even if it's VGA, that will work. Or just watch it on your laptop, why make things complicated by trying to do it through the TV?

No, it's like a hockey puck device to attach to your TV. I'm not concerned about adding apps to it b/c it's not any of my computers. I've got a lot (finally) of rumble channels on there and watch you are a tube (for now) still. Plus plex media server to serve up free movies I've dl with graboid. If I want to watch something from (real) TV I use an amazonian firestick and the kodi app. They make hockey puck sized devices too - I probably should have bought that.

Haven't given a dime to hollywood or related in a dozen years or so. I don't even watch you are a boob tube adds - I just refresh roku until they goes away.

There’s a Roku channel called “Odysee Unofficial”

Add the channel to your default channels on the Roku.

They appear as icons on your TV.

Walmart, Target, Best Buy sell Roku players, $30 or so.

Off the subject : I wish I had bought more stock (ROKU) a couple years ago.💵📈

I just use AppleTV and airplay. Super easy to load up something on my phone and airplay it to the TV. Same with our iPads and iMacs. I'm not a fan boy, but we're deep in the Apple eco system. It just works.

When everyone is out of the house I've airplayed porn to my 110" movie screen in the basement... lol. You can play anything you want. Price is the biggest entry hurdle though with Apple. You can get used Appletv boxes somewhat cheap. You'll still need a Mac or phone to airplay from a browser though. I also use it for home audio. I can play music in multiple rooms and outside if we're having a party. Theoretically cheaper than hiring a sound guy to wire your house and you can use your own speakers.

We are probably locked in for life at this point. We have like 300 movies purchased through iTunes. Fuck, Apple probably gets $2-3k a year from us between devices and purchases. Whatever... I'm happy with how it works.

There's a reason, they are trying like hell to destroy the Microsoft Enterprise Development culture. You do have to have your shit together, live it breathe it, and learn it.
It's not anything you can do, just because you took a community college course, then never give it another thought. Then expect to go get a job doing it.
Enterprise Development is too White.

More shops and aps are going No SQL, and ERP and CRM Cloud solutions. With support staff in India. US Companies, can then hire the shit out of the LBGTQ idiots, and low IQ Libtards, that expects the world to tiptoe around their feelz. Guys like me make them all feel inadequate, and exposes the HR as incompetent, and make the Owners of the Companies realize, that if they keep those people in Enterprise decisions they will be out of business soon. I make them angry because I know my shit, and they think it should work like a Twitter content filter.

I have no desire to work with the fuckers anymore. I'm ready pick up an spade and dig like a farmer. Just leave them to it.

Salesforce, Netsuite, DevOps, SAP, all of it, they can shove it up their ass.
Very few companies ever realize a usable product out of those Cloud systems. The only ones that do, are the ones, that the developers in those companies, worked with that company hand in hand when they were developing. Those ERP and CRM solutions, were actually made for company first. Then they tried to make it a one size fits all solution. Which is most never gracefully done.

Why in the hell would anyone want to run a shitty low info, do fuck all Android Application on a device with 8 fucking cores 3.5mzh, 32 gigs of ram, and 2 terabytes of hard drive space?

I miss full feature suites, with all of the tools at hand to do your task in one application. With menus and context property and configuration menus that provide more information than the most complex Android App. I mean Android Apps were fine, when smart phones first started, and they didn't have as much ram and processor speed as they do now.
They should have evolved by now, to interface with a docking station and replaced people's home computer, their work computer, and still be their main communication device.
They are not production tools, they are time sucks, and glorified news papers.

Installing an Android App on Windows 11

"To install this App you will need to give permission to your Banking folder, and Remote Desktop."

Brilliant!

I did not know that a main feature of Windows 11 would be the ability to run Android apps. And I agree, running Android apps on a PC dumbs down a powerful computer into being a toy and part time terminal.

I need to break this this.

A $75 computer (and that's a nice case and a huge SD CARD) can do anything a computer can do, it can plug directly into your television, it can be controlled through an interface on a phone, and it can act as a communication device and a storage device.

No restrictions, works as well as any computer does, handles 4K video (although you don't need it 1080p is plenty) if fully capable of making VOIP calls, can be completely controlled and monitored, and can interface to your phone, computer, or tablet.

I say, fuck this shit.
21   Tenpoundbass   2021 Jul 3, 7:30pm

There's more than enough technology right now to pull that off. But they don't technology unnecessarily sucks.

Just curious, not intended as any kind of snark or challenge - Are you using a Raspberry Pi to write on this blog?

Challenge accepted regardless.

Exclusively to prove a point, I am writing this on a raspberry pi now. I'm using X2GO as the interface.

This stupid little machine is VASTLY more powerful than the machine I used in college, and there were thousands of students using that simultaneously. I don't bother to do it, but this little toy is fully capable of anything. If I didn't need to connect to work through VPN, this very well might be my main machine.

Web browsing is a bit tedious on it because browsers are bloated crap, but this will play 4K video - and I don't even give a crap about that - 1080p is fine.

If it can play 1080p, compile in a reasonable amount of time, handle VOIP - what else does 99.9% of the population want? We've long been at the point of "I don't need a better machine" for a decade. I worked on a 9 year old machine for several years, because it was more than capable of doing what I needed, and it's faster than a laptop.

Power usage is the defining term now, NOT speed. This little toy, it's blazing fast. It takes 4 times longer to compile a complex program, but that's a few more seconds, not hours. This blows away the machine I had in 2000. Kills it and it's a toy.

People have absolutely no idea what kind of power is available to them. We can talk to anybody on the planet, we can do nuclear bomb simulation, this toy CRUSHES a Cray Super Computer from 1985. This tiny toy can simulate every computer that was ever made up to 1990 easily. Atari, Sega, C=64, Nintendo, anything you saw in an arcade, trivially. Runs on 10 watts, or less. It's nuts. The SD Card I'm using in it can store more information than I can read in a lifetime. That's $20. This could EASILY host this site. Next step is decentralization, but there's some moral problems with that but we have to do it, because our fucking government has betrayed the Constitution and our fucking big tech companies have as well. We are opening Pandora's Box, again.
