What is the name for this dishonest form of argument where the point is willfully misrepresented and then that strawman is refuted?

James Damore used the term "misrepresent and shame", where the left (and it's always the left for some reason) deliberately misrepresents and then attempts to shame for something that was never asserted.

The point is, and the truth is, that it's a gross violation of freedom of speech to have the executive branch coordinating with tech monopolies to censor dissenting opinions. And it is in fact clearly similar to the operations of Mao, Stalin, and Hitler with respect to free speech, especially when we have hundreds of political prisoners now who were arrested for protesting election fraud after being invited into the Capitol and taking selfies.

They have done shit like show protests in "China" where the soldiers in uniform are wearing Indian uniforms. I am so fucking tired of it. They tried to pass off a video of a supposed Turkish attack against the Kurds, which turned out to be a Kentucky gun show. They don't care, they lie their asses off ALL THE TIME, and they are "duh, why doesn't anybody trust us"? They are completely not worth paying attention to at this point.

For 4 years it was "Trump is losing his mind and is cognitively disabled!" - and silence on Biden. Every goddamned thing they do is insincere, misleading, and dishonest. It's complete propaganda. There was a time in the 1990's when a "news station" told a whopper, SOMEBODY would call them out on it in the national media - that ended in 2000.
