The way I run it is as a CGI script and a service. Meaning, a cgi webpage will take in a URL, and if the URL is "understood" information is saved off as a file. A script that is running as a service waits for files to show up (using inotify) when will process the file as soon as it shows up.
I wrote it for youtube only when youtube started censoring a few years ago, but I really need to generalize it because a lot of video files now ONLY show up on other sites, but they can be deleted as well, or just buried being impossible to find later.
