"We dished out the Kommie crap to the callow yutes like you asked!" "Yeah, but you refuse to perform ritual seppuku wit da jab for our greater glory. Dat was in the fine print, useful idiots." "Thousands of teachers have just lost their jobs in New York City for not taking the experimental vaccine. Many of the fired teachers are angry and they are surrounding the Department of Education."
"Why not the rubber room on full pay where we can plan adultery, eat donuts, watch porn on our computers, smoke, and drink coffee, like the good ole days?"
I was a little late to the party. Joined when they started crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. Police escort the whole way.
Then at City Hall, which is immediately in front of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Then walking north through Manhattan, we received heckles from obese men, trans black kids, and of course the crazed middle aged women. Some of the protesters have really short fuses and can't handle a little heckling. Some punk kids overturned a testing site tent and made us all look bad. Overall, we seemed to get equal support and hatred from bystanders. Most people were annoyed we were inconveniencing them by blocking the road. Wait till they see the next steps in vaccine mandate totalitarianism.
We made it to the "Australian Consulate" which is an office somewhere up in a building on 42nd street. Chants were "Free Australia!"
Sorry if I overdid the images @Patrick but I figure I'm the only person on the ground for NYC on patnet so I might as well share.
The general mood was pretty bitter. Understandably so, as they technically didn't even lose their teaching positions, they were just put on unpaid leave, so they can't get unemployment or sue for wrongful termination.
Here's some more from today. It's more difficult to get good photos of the signs during a march due to movement.
Vaccinated and unvaccinated unity.
Fuck Biden flag. Couldn't get the timing down due to incessant waving.
"The yellow star stays on until we get our rights back."
"There is no pandemic." White rose sticker some protesters were handing out.
Faith or fear and teachersforchoice.org
Grand Central Station.
Unfortunately I couldn't stay long for the "Let's scream the building the Australian Consulate is in" phase of the protest, but there were some signs specifically concerning them such as "I stand with the tradies."
I also think the turnout was less than it could have been because of the weather. Chance of rain makes everyone less motivated here for unknown reasons.
