the cure for not being able to manage your own emotional life is to prevent everyone else from having a life too.
this devolves into the adoption of performative ritual to signal which class you are in and to facilitate the monstrous ethical inversion of elevating bullying and dominating others “for their own good” to not just a virtue but a duty.
you get to avoid anxiety AND justify your basest desires to be in control (because you have generally felt out of control). that’s potent psychological liquor. is it any wonder they are drunk on it and have, perhaps, become outright alcoholics, addicted and dependent on this emotional firewater to get through the day?
the endlessly insecure have finally found their happy place.
it’s catnip for karens.
I think these are all pieces of the puzzle. But there’s another real reason that, however unconscious, is certainly also at play, and it’s this: Wokeness perpetuates the economic interests of affluent white liberals. I believe that many of them truly do wish to live in a more equitable society, but today’s liberal elites are also governed by a competing commitment: their belief in meritocracy, or the fiction that their status was earned by their intelligence and talents. Today’s meritocratic elites subscribe to the view that not only wealth but also political power should be the province of the highly educated. Still, liberals see themselves as compassionate and progressive. And perhaps unconsciously, they sought a way to reconcile the inequality that their meritocratic status produces with the compassionate emotions they feel toward the less fortunate. They needed a way to be perpetually on what they saw as the right side of history without having to disrupt what was right for them and their children.
A moral panic around race was the perfect solution: It took the guilt that they should have felt around their economic good fortune and political power— which they could have shared with the less fortunate had they cared to—and displaced it onto their whiteness, an immutable characteristic that they could do absolutely nothing to change. ...
They took a no doubt (?) genuine abhorrence for the truly heinous ways black Americans have been treated historically—and, in some cases, continue to be treated—and instead of seeing in it a call to arms to create a genuinely equal society, they used it as an excuse to withdraw from the common good and the social contract, rebranding the problem of racism to fit the solution that would most benefit them. In the process, they demonized America itself, deplatforming the working class (of all races) while protecting their own status. ...
In other words, wokeness provided the perfect ideology for affluent, liberal whites who didn’t truly want systemic change if it meant their children would have to sacrifice their own status, but who still wanted to feel like the heroes of a story about social justice, who still wanted to feel vastly superior to their conservative and even slightly less radical friends. Across the West, green thinking has been embraced by virtually every wing of the establishment, from the political elites to the media class, from the educational realm to the world of popular culture.
And it isn’t hard to see why. It’s the perfect ideology for our at-sea elites. It allows them to magic up a sense of urgent moral purpose – they’re saving the planet, no less! It lends itself beautifully, or, rather, terrifyingly, to the project of social engineering: lower your horizons, learn to live with less, reconceive of yourself as a destructive creature in need of top-down control rather than a creative being who might help to push humanity forward. It naturalises the limitations of capitalism, encouraging people to make their peace with austerity and downturn on the basis that economic growth is a bad, nature-exploiting idea. And it is a very difficult ideology to challenge. The marshalling of The Science to buoy up this ruling-class ideology means that anyone who questions it – anyone who demands more growth, more ambition, a bigger human footprint – can swiftly be written off as an anti-scientific scourge, as a ‘denier’ of the revealed truths of climatology. Its social engineering, its social control and its strict, censorious management of social aspirations are what make the green ideology so attractive to the new elites.
When the pandemic first broke and the Elderly were kept from seeing their Doctors. My Sister said, it was the best my Mom looked and felt in 10 years. The Doctor had my mom on a hand bag full of meds. She was doing OK until they forced the Clot Shot on her.

So maybe their faith in the injection is faith in the "expert class" of which they are members, and they demand that the hoi polloi submit to it as an expression of the elite's power and prestige.
I will never take daily medications.
The medical field has people convinced they're fixing you. Nope. They're just masking what your body is trying to tell you to keep you sick. Mental health is the worst for adults and kids. No one tries to figure out the issue.
The funding of universities depends entirely on the demand for their degrees, which they control. Their biggest horror would be a system where anyone could take tests to prove competence in a subject without paying for the years of classes and subjecting themselves to obedience to professors.
explaining the psychology of vaxxers
explaining the psychology of vaxxers
Quite a few people believe the lies from Fauci and the Biden cabal as broadcast by the fake-news media. Here are a bunch of things they might believe that are simply not true:
- The "vaccines" are just like other vaccines and so quantifying and qualifying them can run on similar testing and metrics. We have 100 years of experience with vaccines!
- They have been found "safe and effective" after thorough testing (see first bullet).
- Of the vaccines with problems that snuck through testing, those problems were generally found within a few months; vaccines not showing problems within the first few months haven't been found to have long term problems. Therefore, this set of "vaccines" is safe. (see first bullet)
- We can get everyone vaxxed and so wipe the virus off the face of the earth and be done with it forever.
- There are no other remedies available, so it's vaxx or death...
Quite a few also are totally on board with mandating the jab on all kids to save themselves and other old boomerfucks. I hear this every day. Tells you everything about that generation.
mell saysQuite a few also are totally on board with mandating the jab on all kids to save themselves and other old boomerfucks. I hear this every day. Tells you everything about that generation.
There's a few good boomers, I've met two.
But like you, I have experienced no end of frustration with that generation. X will clean up the shit they made. I still have hope with my generation. We might be the next Silent Generation or even the next Greatest Generation. The "greatest generation" went to WWII - we're in a war now, but it's more covert. I think we'll win.
Our war, and you may disagree with me, is with the propaganda and criminality of our government, and more generally "the system". I think we're going to win. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, well let the sun shine..
I'm in complete agreement with this. People who "are depressed" and take a pill for a it, have the same fucking problem they had to begin with that was making them depressed, except now, they're never going to fix the problem because the damned pill masks it.
I'm now convinced that most of "education" and "medicine" is a scam.
Hard science or engineering is decent education. Maybe also if you want to learn Greek and Latin and study the classics. Aside from those, I think it's basically bullshit for money.
Similar for medicine. If you get shot, you need an emergency room. And they might be able to help with cancer, or might not. Again, aside from those, I think it's basically bullshit for money.

Unlike their opportunistic Democrat candidates, the liberal rank and file’s affinity for crisis is also rooted in their high personal baseline levels of fear, anxiety and depression. Liberals comprise the vast majority of psychotherapists’ clientele. The agoraphobic lockdown was sweet sorrow for many liberals. Those who didn’t get juiced up unemployment payments could “work remotely” on their laptops and, thus, avoid other humans. Many Liberals love “The People.” But not people.
Crisis-loving liberals’ perceptions of Coronavirus risk are very far removed from reality. As one of many examples, Bill Maher referred to a Gallup poll showing that 41 percent of Democrats believe that unvaccinated people have more than a 50 percent risk of hospitalization. The risk is actually “0.89%,” i.e., less than one percent. Democrats have wildly overstated risk throughout.
Third, liberals are ideologically monolithic. They don’t think independently or critically. They display rainbow lawn signs setting forth their simplistic, euphemistic rainbow bullet point creed. Their tribe tolerates no dissent. No matter how ridiculous a notion a liberal influencer presents, liberal individuals decline to disagree because they fear that others won’t like, and will negatively label, them. Hence, groupthinking liberals compliantly bought the Covid fear narrative.
Democrats get their skewed data, panic porn and worldviews from such plainly biased, liberal subscriber-funded sources as: NPR, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, the NYT and WaPo. Instead of objective journalism, these outlets give liberal consumers the narrative that these funders subsidize. Mainstream, Pharma ad-funded media outlets have also sown fear and promoted the vaxx scam. Panic builds ratings. And Pharma ads sell more drugs. These are vicious cycles of systemic misinformation.
Fourth, In the main, liberals go to college and major in subjects like Communications, Anthropology, Art History, English, Psychology or Gender Studies. Most took poquito hard science, and few read science books and/or spend time in, or consider, nature. Hence, they don’t know how ubiquitous and tiny microbes are. If they did, they might never have touched dirt, danced, hugged or kissed (ew!) anyone, ridden public transit, played sports, eaten in restaurants or cleaned their cats’ “litterboxes.” Public restrooms would traumatize them.
Most liberals don’t know what—or how wildly inaccurate—a PCR test is. They know nothing about the health effects of baseline systemic inflammation or C-reactive protein. Nor do they do know about how healthy gut microbiomes strengthen immunity. If they’ve heard of Ivermectin, liberals don’t know of its global human use or its efficacy; they dismiss it as “horse paste” because they heard Jimmy Kimmel smugly say so, while Colbert presented a dork-isimo dancing “vaccine” team.
Liberals have no clue about how irretrievably complex biological systems are or how one intervention inevitably causes multiple effects, many of which are neither predictable nor immediately apparent. Natural immunity and systems ecology are, to them, alien concepts. Instead, liberals naively, blindly trust bureaucrats, counterproductive lockdowns, political theater masks and magical injections. Somehow, medical reductionism connotes sophistication. Liberals think we all owe our survival to mega-hospitals, drugs, people in white coats and medical insurance.
Fifth, liberals de-emphasize personal responsibility, in general, and specifically its importance in maintaining health. Far more consequential than a Covid epidemic, America has had a decades-long obesity epidemic. 78% of those who died with Covid have been overweight. Liberals fail to acknowledge this elephant in the Covid room. Liberal Karens have repeatedly and naively blamed Trump and the unmasked and unvaxxed for the “pandemic.” But when, during the past twenty months, has any Democrat told any fat person—except Trump—that they should lose weight?
Sixth, liberals also love top/down, centralized federal control by media-anointed “experts.” But these experts have been wrong at every turn for the past 20 months. Liberals fell hook, line and sinker for “Two weeks to flatten the curve,” “We’re all in this together” and every other serial, bureaucrat-sponsored, propagandistic Coronavirus lie. Because they’ve been sloganeered into submission, they still think masks and vaccines “stop the spread” and “prevent infection.” It’s all very Soviet. That’s not a compliment.
Seventh, liberals are virtue signalers, but not virtuous. They vocally support school integration and want to control public school curricula, but send their kids to de facto segregated, often private, schools. They support higher taxes, but hire accountants to shelter their income. They support releasing criminals without bail, but live in places where street crime is unlikely. They fear climate change but drive a lot and fly frequently, often in private jets. They want you to stay home, mask up and take an experimental shot—no, an endless series of shots—because they naively think this will make a virus crawl into a corner and die.
Both Democrat politicians and their adherents should be deeply ashamed of the profound and lasting harm that their opportunistic and fearful tribal Coronavirus overreaction has caused. None of it has saved any lives.

This is also a mistake. In Silicon Valley, besides people I've met through here, I know TWO PEOPLE that question this pandemic in this area. We're filled with science dorks.
In their world, NPR and PBS and WaPo are holy beacons of fair minded, critical thought and enlightenment, and Fox News is the far right. Bannon is a fuckin' Nazi, and Alex Jones is a combination of Velikhovsky and Hitler combined.

I still contend that PBS and NPR were pretty fair minded news sources, 30 years ago. Fox News showed their true colors when they promoted the weapons of mass destruction program hoax.
Here's some critical thinking - Alex Jones basically sells vitamins and water filters - how did he become a multimillionaire doing that? I think he's controlled opposition.
I don't know what the Washington Post USED to be like, but today, it's complete propaganda.

Sure. They had Milt Friedman on, their talk shows like Louis Rukyheiser and others had many differing voices on. NPR All Things Considered had fairly regular guests that would be considered much more right wing both then and especially now. I remember hearing it growing up.
Nobody will advertise on Jones anymore out of fear of cancellation, and losing his big regular audience via Youtube and Facebook a few years back.
You judge if you think he's FOS.
So if this Steve guy ghost wrote the books, he's lost status in my eye. I also give my trust very grudgingly to people who hint at long stints with secretive agencies and so forth, usually they're LARPing their asses off.
Prof Desmet (00:03:20): Yes. Four things need to exist or need to be in place if you want a large scale mass phenomenon to emerge. The first thing is that there needs to be a lot of socially isolated people, people who experience a lack of social bonds. The second one is that there needs to be a lot of people who experience a lack of sense-making in life. And the third and the fourth conditions are that there needs to be a lot of free-floating anxiety and a lot of free-floating psychological discontent. So: meaning, anxiety, and discontent that is not connected to a specific representation. So it needs to be in the mind without the people being able to connect it to something. If you have these four things—lack of social bonds, lack of sense-making, free-floating anxiety, and free-floating psychological discontent—then society is highly at risk for the emergence of mass phenomenon.
(00:04:27): And these four conditions existed shortly before the Corona Crisis. There was an epidemic of burnout. Over 40 to 70% of the people experienced their jobs as completely senseless. This is described in the book Bullshit Jobs by this professor of Harvard [David Graeber] of whom I always forget his name. (He died last year, I think.) Then if you look at the use of psychopharmaceuticals, it was huge. This shows how much discontent there was in our society. For instance, in Belgium every year 11 million people use over 300 million doses of antidepressants alone. Over 300 million doses. That’s huge. So you see that these four conditions really existed: lack of sense-making, lack of social bonds, free-floating anxiety, and then a free-floating discontent.
Prof Desmet (00:05:36): Yes. You have to know that free-floating anxiety is the most painful psychological phenomenon someone can experience. It’s extremely painful. It leads up to panic attacks, to all kinds of extremely painful psychological experiences. What people want in this situation is something to connect their anxiety to. They’re looking for an explanation for the anxiety. And now, if this free-floating anxiety is highly present in a population, and the media provide a narrative, which indicates an object of anxiety, and at the same time, describe a strategy to deal with this object of anxiety, then all the anxiety connects to this object and people are willing to follow the strategy to deal with this object, no matter what the cost is. That is what happens in the beginning of mass formation.

Liberals defend their credentials which allow them to exploit those who don't have the same credentials. Credentials create monopolies, the ability to set high prices regardless of quality of service. It is a way to defeat free market competition.
The funding of universities depends entirely on the demand for their degrees, which they control. Their biggest horror would be a system where anyone could take tests to prove competence in a subject without paying for the years of classes and subjecting themselves to obedience to professors.
- Thomas Frank
Most of academia is less about learning than about paying for a paper proof of status and conformity. Non-conformists are expelled from schools, or failed out. Most teachers do not like their authority to be questioned. Bosses like the academic proof of conformity when they hire. The most "educated" are the most obedient.
Trump was a threat to their credentials and therefore a threat to their incomes and status.
The academic elite need a reason to hate those threatening themselves, therefore they use imaginary "racism", to which there is no defense. The accusation is the conviction.
Then they don't need to worry about the real class problem, which is independent of race. They would be uncomfortable looking at class, because they'd have to look at themselves and their unearned class privileges.
So their faith in the injection is faith in the "expert class" of which they are members, and they demand that the hoi polloi submit to it as an expression of the elite's power and prestige.
