I don't think this scales well. How can, for example, a farmer hide himself if he owns the land and it is on county record? And most such people are not knowledgeable or rich enough to make shell corporations etc.

This will work for a programmer who can work virtually and knows how to avoid digital surveillance. I've met one in NM mountains who is probably well-hidden from our beloved gubbermint, but for most people I don't think it will work.

When I started really getting into privacy, what I learned about was all physical. The farmer can put his assets in an LLC in Wyoming, no need for shells. And I'd actually put my money on the farmer being able to achieve more complete privacy than the programmer. Unplug your internet cable, and prying into your privacy just got 100% harder.
