Scientists recently discovered a tiny marine predator that could be the “secret weapon” in fighting climate change, according to Sky News.

A research team found the single-celled microbe isolated from waters off the coast of Sydney, Australia. Named Prorocentrum cf. balticum, the small predator uses photosynthesis and generates a carbon-rich mucus-like substance to attract and trap other microbes for consumption.

Once it’s done feeding, the microorganism dumps the carbon-rich mucus, which sinks – because of the weight of surplus prey trapped inside – to the bottom of the ocean and adds carbon back into the oceans’ carbon-cycling system.

The team explained that the marine microbe is contributing to the process of transporting carbon from the ocean’s surface to deeper levels, known as vertical carbon export, and carbon sequestration – the process of trapping and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Both these processes are important in controlling global temperature, Newsweek reported. And this microorganism’s work is a first for scientists – previous studies have highlighted the role that planktons play in storing carbon dioxide but not that of other microbes.

Researchers estimate that the new microbe can sink up to 0.15 gigatons of carbon each year, adding that it could become “a game-changer in the way we think about carbon and the way it moves in the marine environment.”

Scientists believe that humanity needs to remove 10 gigatons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere every year from now until 2050 in order to reach climate targets.

You're behind the times Jack, everyone knows now that Global warming was a bunch of nonsense hogwash that was dropped as soon as the next best gambit for Democrats to control everyone's lives. Get with it Jack, it's all about Russia Russia Russia now, but we've got Covid on stand by, and Fauci still has his finger on the "Release the Hounds" button.

Al Gore can't even get a cop to pull him over to listen to him blabber about Global warming while he writes Al "Cry me a Glacier" Gore a ticket.

Anthropogenic global warming is saving the earth from descending into the next ice age.

This is a really great talk by a paleoclimatologist. The gist of the talk is that there were no periodic ice ages until about 50 million years ago, when India collided with south Asia. Before then, CO2 concentrations were much higher than they are now, Antartica was nearly ice free. Once the tectonic collision between India and Asia raised the Himalayas and the Tibetan plateau, rock weathering scrubbed massive amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere and rendered the earth's climate vulnerable to variations in solar heating caused by the Malankovitch cycles.

According to these cycles, the earth entered a cooling phase back in the late 1970's. Why do you think the oligarchs are buying up beachfront and island property while at the same time screaming about the evils of global warming? They're hypocrites, who would rather have their beachfronts while billions die due to advancing glaciers in the northern hemisphere.

The video also noted that before the industrial era, CO2 concentrations got as low as 170 ppm - this is the minimum threshold of CO2 concentration necessary for plant life. The ice ages were killing the world.

I'm sure Klaus Schwab is doing his best to return us to glacial CO2 minimums, thereby reducing us to 500 million humans.

This doesn't make sense - carbon is a fuel, and a MICROBE that isn't make use of a fuel seems very strange. I don't believe the report.

I dunno. All those leaves you see on the ground every fall contain carbon the trees removed from the air. Trees are not microbes, but the same concept can apply with carbon burning animals - animals poop a perfectly good carbon containing fuel.

Thanks for this @stereotomy

The people who scream most about ignorance are deeply, deeply ignorant about Earth Geological History. We had a mini-ice age in the 17th Century, and other around the Dark Ages, which may have been a primary cause of that time.
