#ourgermanshepherdalfred In Elena's absence, I have undertaken an ambitious project to reorganize the pantry. This requires a lot of bending and strange contortions. I suffered a terrible muscle pull on the lower left side of my chest. For many hours, I lay immobilized with agonizing pain in bed. I could not even get up to go to the bathroom. Now I am up with the help of painkillers. While I was immobilized, our dear German Shephard Alfred ran out of food in the bowls. Nearby is a plastic bin full of dog food, Alfred was smart enough to take the top off. He ate from the bin. Animals can be amazing!!!

Every time I sit and play my Stratocaster, when I bend over to fiddle with the knobs on my effects pedals, for the next week, my chest and ribs hurt. I then get the added benefit of worrying if it was from playing my guitar, or is it lung cancer or heart disease kicking in.

Lol. I was on the golf team and my dog legit ate my rule book from my bag. Coaches couldn't answer questions on rules during matches. My coach did not believe me, even though it was 1,000% true as I found myself in a spot that I didn't know what to do rules wise. I got "benched" (lol golf) for the next two matches. He thought I was being a smart ass.

I ended up chewing out the assistant coach (there to just golf for free) and then made the coaches girlfriend (teacher at the school) absolutely miserable. We legitimately made her cry. Kind of a dick move on my/our (fellow golfers) part, but in hindsight I have zero guilt over it. Him and her were both cunts. Love golf, but those 4 years with that fuck were miserable in the fall. He pitted me against my best friend as the top golfer (best man in my wedding) on the team and it sucked.

Match before regionals, two of my tires were slashed in the school parking lot. Convinced to this day it was my coach. I couldn't play that day because I had to deal with that. Parking lot full of 100 cars and ONLY my tires get slashed. And why two? I had no enemies in high school. The blow up happened with the assistant coach 2-3 days prior.

I wonder what Elena thinks of this?

Yeah, I think I know where some of that dog food wound up while you were helpless and Alfred was feeling frisky with Elena. Do you notice the peanut butter running out really fast these days?

Or the jab?

Thanks FJB, but as I suspected my ribs were hurting the other day because the night before I was sitting while holding my Strat on my knee. The top of the body jamming into my rib bruised it the next few days. It feels a lot better today.

No Jab, I don't trust the Doctors especially after this Covid bullshit and response. If and when I ever do need healthcare. I will ask the Doctor what their stance on Covid was at the time. Did they rock the system or go along with it?

I couldn't remember if you said you got jabbed or not. The way you wrote that, made me think. Btw, keep on rocking. Guitar the ultimate instrument imo. There is no other instrument that you can do so much with.

Eh.... I'll disagree. Drums are the ultimate instrument. Watch this. https://youtu.be/FssULNGSZIA?source=patrick.net

Slow start, but I can't imagine anyone thinking guitars are better after watching this. I'm biased #drummer. I don't think non-musicians understand how difficult drumming is. I appreciate guitar playing, but it's substantially easier to be average or above average. You really can't be a bad drummer if you play. You won't get gigs.

Then there's the human voice. Guitars are overrated in my world. https://youtu.be/BAlDEcQMLio?source=patrick.net

I've been been 15-20 times. Go to Red Rocks. It's amazing.

People think busy drummers are more skilled. The hardest thing to do for a bass player or drummer, is to keep a simple pattern grove going.
It takes much more discipline than the rest of the music.

The biggest problem with Guitar is guitarists that learn way to much from Berkley taught guitarists, and learn all of the technical chops, but never develop their own sound or style.
Remember when the Drums and Bass are doing the right thing and playing like a machine, if the guitar is just up there, playing the same cookie cutter crap. Then the whole band sound homogenized. A guitarist supposed to breathe life into the musical pieces not be predictable, and playing the same triads and mode scales. Being able to articulate your own harmonies and melodies is the mark of a great guitarist. Where as Drummers and Bass players are judged on how well they can keep that Guitarist grounded, and not turn into a Wank session.

I always worked at developing my own chops. Now after 35 years of playing, I'm trying to understand and command modes in every scale. I have always knew them, and knew what they were. But I never consciously thought about what mode I was playing while I was playing the melodies and musical pieces I was putting down from my head.
Now as I am learning them from the millions of Youtube video and expert content. I'm glad I didn't dive right in, it's very easy to end up sounding like you're trying to hard to lift chops from Muscle Shoals session player.
By waiting to deeply comprehend it, I am able to use what I glean to build on what I already know. Like Oh I use that mode a lot in this song, and some of the cords that go with this mode or triad, would go better than what I had.

I agree. How the hell did Ringo keep his job?

Bass players are probably the least respected in a band. A good drummer and bass player usually make the band great, at least in the music I like. Obviously good vocals help. But guitarist are a dime a dozen. Not saying it's easy, but the sounds you can make with it are more obvious. You can be sloppy to an extent. A bad drummer or bassist will destroy the groove.

I always feel bad for a dog when I see them like this. They KNOW they've done something wrong, and the owner is like "this is funny" - the dog isn't thinking that. The dog is thinking "I'm in deep shit". I don't like to see an animal cringing.
