https://babylonbee.com/news/journalists-call-for-constitutional-amendment-granting-everyone-free-speech

U.S. — After journalists this week experienced the terrible ignominy of a brief suspension from Twitter, the media has begun calling for some sort of constitutional amendment that would protect people's right to speak.

"As journalists, we have discovered in the past thirty-six hours that social media must remain a free marketplace of ideas where no one is shadow-banned or suspended," said CNN correspondent Donie O'Sullivan. "Twitter being a private entity obviously does not give it the right to choose what speech to host on its platform! If we're unhappy with its decisions, it's not like we can go out and build another Twitter, right? Free speech for all!"

After spending the past six years attempting to crush all dissenting speech, the media reportedly experienced a change of heart after realizing that they might have to play by the rules they have created. "After being suspended from Twitter for doxxing a man right after his child was threatened, I now know what it was like for doctors who were kicked off Twitter for disagreeing with the government's COVID narrative," said Aaron Rupar. "I never spoke up for all the other people banned from Twitter the past few years - but having now basically experienced imprisonment on Alacatraz, I am going to right those wrongs."

At publishing time, the journalists were surprised to learn that, unlike a truck driver or mailman, no one missed them during their suspension.

What ersatz journalists fear is that their bullhorn repetitions of delusion will become redundant, and the paychecks from the fiat printing presses will stop and they will have to find real jobs. If you're a typical journalist pervert, that is the worst thing that can happen to you.

Elon Musk has a pretty tried-and-true playbook for doing business — he's used it for years to build companies from Tesla to SpaceX. Unfortunately for him, it is not a model that can turn Twitter into a profitable company. It's one that will take the social-media company down in flames.

Here's the Musk playbook: Enter a field with very little competition. Claim that your new company will solve a massive, global problem or achieve a seemingly impossible goal. Raise money from a fervent group of true believers and keep them on the hook with flashy, half-baked product ideas. Suck up billions from the government. Underpay, undervalue, and overwork your employees. Repeat.

Twitter is the antithesis of an "Elon Musk company." It's an influential but small player in a field that is dominated by giant, well-funded competitors. The government is more likely to put the clamps on Twitter than give it some windfall contract. And Twitter's employees have options: They can leave and work for companies that treat them much better than Musk ever would.

But perhaps most importantly, a lot of people think Twitter — and Musk's ownership of the company — is part of a global media problem, rather than some grand solution. And without a big, world-changing promise to paper over his sophomoric product ideas and erratic management, Musk's Twitter takeover is doomed.

Now Musk is preventing Twitter users from linking to posts or profiles on “competitors” Mastadon, Facebook, Instagram and even Truth Social!

Wow now he’s started a Twitter poll asking whether he should step down, and that he will abide by the results, with further commentary “be careful what you wish [for], as you might get it” and “Those who want power are the ones who least deserve it.”

What is going on?

Woah, that's bizarre.

I don't like the sound of it. Elon should remain in charge of Twitter.

Be careful what you wish for. You won’t like the government that replaces the current one, of that I am certain. The next form of government will make Mao, Xi, Stalin and Hitler look like Girl Scouts.

If you haven't noticed, that's what we're moving toward, with the full force and help of the intelligence agencies, BOTH parties, and the big tech.

Yes, it is called the New World Order, the Great Reset, build back better, etc.... but as you tear down our country and insult the people and institutions that gave us our liberty and prosperity, you are accelerating its downfall. You, unfortunately are part of the problem. We need our institutions to start working for us again, and tearing them down is only going to empower an even greater tyranny. Not everyone in power is on the side of tyranny. And even those who are can be persuaded to change or replaced if need be.

Our only hope is to reclaim the Republic peacefully. Prosecuting the FBI deepstaters who lied about the laptop and the Steele Dossier repeatedly is a start. Also Pfauci who lied about wu flu and vaxx. Then the Bidens for selling state secrets and access for bribes. Those are the real criminals, that Twitter guy is just a corporate stooge.

WHO is going to prosecute the deepstate? The deepstate?

Our government is not just systemically corrupt, it's irredeemably corrupt.

You know how you defeat a government? You stop complying with it. You stop being the bitch of it. Yoel Roth, he wasn't only complicit, he championed it. He should be excommunicated from society, they guy is nothing but a fucking traitor to our most fundamental right in the Constitution, free speech. If the 1st amendment doesn't work, the ONLY alternative is the 2nd amendment.

You are arguing that we should punish the twitter guy and cut him off from society. But you are claiming that the system that supports that very same society is irredeemably corrupt. So in other words you want to cut off the wart that is the twitter guy and call it a victory, when the patient is dying of terminal cancer. That makes no sense!

Twitter is not a place for free speech Padowan, that place is Patnet. And the constitution does not guarantee free speech on Twitter, it guarantees free speech face to face. Tweets are not speech. Tweets are a product on a private site controlled by a few idiots/geniuses who found a way to make money off of users and advertisers. Get over it man. What Twitter did that was wrong (but perhaps not illegal) was to collude with the FBI to deliberately keep users ignorant of the Biden crime family. What the FBI did probably was illegal in interfering with the election.

The first Amendment does work, and thankfully Patrick is one of the many supporters of it. So put your second amendment talk away. I’m afraid you don’t even understand what the battle is about. The moment anyone threatens to use violence to restore the republic, they reveal their disdain for the very Republic they claim to support. The second amendment is not about providing citizens with the means to overthrow tyranny with violence, it is about preventing tyranny in the first place! Only a tyrannical government would seek to disarm its own people! That is the point the second amendment is making.

By the way, why don’t you put your money where your mouth is and stop paying taxes. Stop voting and talking about politics like it makes any difference who is elected as you claim bot Dems and reps are on the same team. Stop working for corporations that are anti-American. Stop following all the bullshit rules they Lord over you. You are part of the problem according to your own definition if you pay taxes to support the system that you describe as irredeemably corrupt. Until you find a way to stop paying taxes you are their bitch, using your word and line of reasoning.

The IRS didn't give us liberty and prosperity, neither did the CIA, the FBI, the MIC, the Federal Reserve, the Department of Education, the DOE...

PeopleUnited says

No, we need to get rid of a lot of our institutions. They are parasites, they don't improve this country at all.

Look, I want to show you a quick example. This is McGuffey's Eclectic Reader. This is book 1.

https://www.gutenberg.org/files/14640/14640-pdf.pdf

Now this is book 5:

https://www.gutenberg.org/files/15040/15040-pdf.pdf

The very first book requires a teacher to work with the student, all other books can be read by the student alone with help from a teacher when they get into trouble. Read a few random pages from the 5th book.

Those were the common books used to teach 120 years ago, before we had mandatory public education - before there was ANYTHING like the Department of Education.

You are incorrect in thinking our current institutions had anything to do with making our country strong or great, you've been indoctrinated into this thinking over time. They are designed to hobble the population, not to improve it. There's a war between an upper class and a lower class. The way this war is waged is to deprive people from equal opportunity. School today, is largely a WASTE OF TIME and it's designed to waste children's time. That's its purpose.

The purpose of the Internet is really equal opportunity and that's why it's constantly under attack and they try to regulate it over and over again, but it's designed from the GROUND UP to resist this. Gutenberg had NOTHING on this. The printing press was a remarkable thing, but this, is infinitely more powerful.
1033   PeopleUnited   2022 Dec 19, 4:04am

The institutions that made our country great are the church, the family and the ability to freely assemble/associate to join with like minded people to further our own self interests. The institutions include cities, counties and states. The constitution protects the rights of self governing. Those are the rights and institutions that need to be preserved. They cannot be preserved by burning down the system. But yes, let’s abolish the IRS, CIA, DOE, etc... through Congress and the presidency.

These aren't quite institutions. They are guarantees under the Bill of Rights. I don't object to that.

You have a different idea of what "the system" is than I do. The system is that what controls us, and that's not the church, it's not our rights to assemble, it's not are freedom of speech, it's not even our vote at this point. It's the IRS, CIA, DOE, etc. That's what controls us and I want to get rid of all of them, especially the IRS.

@bossofme7

The first amendment give you free speech from the GOVERNMENT. Twitter is not the government. They are quite literally not held to the same standards. Twitter working as an arm of the FBI to censor Americans is a violation of the First Amendment.

I agree. The First Amendment says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

"Congress shall make no law" also means that the executive branch may not simply choose to pretend there is a censorship law.

Historically, religion was mandatory and enforced. That's wrong, and it's a violation of our 1st amendment.

If you want to join the Catholic church, a Sunni mosque, a Scientology church, or become a Moonie, or whatever cult you prefer - I don't care, as long as you're not being forced to do it.

I recognize that religion is a tool of control, but if somebody wants to be controlled, that's THEIR RIGHT to be. Hell, most people are controlled by television today. Directs 90% of the population on what sort of social attitudes they should have to what sort of crap they should buy - but it's not compulsory.

I bet less than 5% of the people here could go a month without turning on a television, watching a film of some sort, or turning on the radio. I bet 95% couldn't do that for a month. Our "entertainment" entirely controls the population, and the intelligence agencies have been involved with it since at least the 1930's.

Almost all Americans are entirely occupied by fantasy and sportsball. It consumes your time and destroys your mind. This is done so you will never consider something else - what the fuck is going on.

I'm sure the number of bot accounts has gone way down, maybe 80%, in the few weeks he's been running it.

All the rest of this year, half the time you wrote something, some account from 2009-2013 with less than 200 followers would start spewing Globohomo and Fakten Cheka rubbish. If you repeated something you said earlier, they'd never say "You said that already", they'd regurgitate their canned answer. Once one repeated their very first comment back almost verbatim. Just an advanced Eliza program.
