An advisory panel to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) voted unanimously on Wednesday to recommend two COVID-19 vaccines for kids ages 5 and younger.
The FDA does not recommend any vaccines to people. The committee recommended that the FDA “emergency use authorize” the vaccines for under 5. Which means they “might be” safe and effective. These vaccines are not approved either, and will not be, for children.
Still, a sad day. The CDC always recommends them to everyone for whom they are authorized and does not wait for actual FDA “approval.”
California will not require them for school until they are FDA approved. So far the FDA has not approved any COVID-19 vaccine for under 16, and they will not for at least another year.
They will in California already has the strictest mandate for kids in school. They went after doctors that wrote medical exceptions. My cousins doctor was one of them. His son can't get any shots so they left California.
Left in Nov - I don't miss it. It's been fun exploring a new state. Visiting California next month but to be honest I rather go to Colorado or Mexico but got new baby in the family got to say what's up lil dude ;)
