New 9000 ton cricket food facility opens in Canada.

Don't expect light planes to crash into it.

We give our dogs broccoli

@ad - be careful with broccoli, I've HEARD that it's not good for dogs. Some cows cannot eat the stuff.

broccoli and other cruciferous have some powerful molecules in them but in particular broccoli. When you chew it (and it hasn't been cooked) it creates sulforaphane, which is why I grow and eat broccoli sprouts -> ~100x more sulforaphane than mature broccoli. I've literally seen people grow and feed the sprouts to their dogs. Not that @richwicks is wrong, I don't know but I've definitely seen people do that.

I would bet thoroughly cooked broccoli is fine for dogs.

Rich, the American Kennel Club says it is okay in moderation.

I agree. Just another fucktoy with daddy issues. From the Wiki:

Early life
Rhoades was raised by a single mother in a suburb of Chicago. At 14, she admired the glamour of the models in The Girls Next Door and wanted to be like Anna Nicole Smith.[1]

https://slaynews.com/news/major-us-meat-producer-open-wef-linked-insect-plant/

America’s largest meat producer has announced a new partnership with a World Economic Forum-linked company to open a major insect processing plant in the United States.

Tyson Foods Inc., the largest producer in the U.S. for all kinds of meats, is buying a stake in Netherlands-based insect-protein company Protix BV.

Protix BV describes itself “as leading the world in the technical aspects of insect production.”

The company has also been hailed by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and was awarded with globalist organization’s “Technology Pioneer” award.

Protix CEO Kees Aarts is also listed as a member of the WEF.

The two companies will collaborate to establish a manufacturing facility in the U.S.

The new plant will produce bug-based meal and oil, typically used in fish feed and dog food.

However, Tyson CFO John Tyson said in an interview that “in the long run,” the company will produce products that are “good for people.”

Oil from bugs might be better than industrial PUFA (more omega 3 and 9?), but yeah, too much handwaving.

I have to admit that some of the kosher food rules make a lot of intuitive sense.

Like not eating bugs.

Speaking of bugs, I heard people allergic to shellfish would also have reax to Crickets and other bugs as the Chitin is similar.

The Russian government classified fly larvae and eggs as agricultural products and approved a new procedure for their breeding.

Russian journalists drew attention to the document published on the website of the Russian government.

The government order is dated October 2023, but apparently it has not been widely popularized before.

The document, in particular, enshrines in Russian legislation the concept of "product from the black lion fly". Among such products:

larval fat,
finely ground fly flour,
flour of coarse grinding from the fly,
pellets from larvae,
puree from larvae.
In addition, the list of agricultural products was supplemented with the items "fly eggs" and "live, chilled and frozen fly larvae".

In this regard, the journalists recalled the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denys Manturov, who proposed to "work with the mentality" to teach Russians to eat fly larvae.

Tyson, a major US producer of beef, pork and chicken, is betting on protein that comes from insects.

The meat processor said on Tuesday that it has invested in Protix, a Netherlands-based insect ingredients maker. Tyson is not only taking a minority stake in the company, but is working alongside it to build a US factory. That facility will use animal waste to feed black soldier flies, which will then be turned into food for pets, poultry and fish. Tyson did not disclose the financial specifics of the deal.
