I always suspect events like these are 100% staged “pro wrestling” (yes, Proud Boys is in on it too) to distract from the real issues, like why are they still requiring boosters to study at the university.

But they do serve a specific propaganda purpose as well. Here it’s to make it look like the stifling of conservative views is coming from anywhere but from the top down.
