Since 2011, it has also been illegal to wear a face-covering veil in public in France. French people broadly agree with those rules."
With 51% of the population reportedly not associated with any religion, I can see why this is being pushed. There are not enough vocal white liberals (i.e., Portland AntiFa types) to cause a stir with this.
