So its the automakers that collect the digital data from the cars without the owners knowing ?

How do they transfer the data from the car to the automakers digital data storage ?

Where do they store this data ? Where are the data warehouses or server rooms ?

Once these get answered then I'd love to know what they are doing with the data such as how they find buyers of this data.

It seems no different than your cell phone "spying on you" especially with it having social media apps.

No sure about "not knowing" but I do know the GPS map on my 2018 Pathfinder screen has real time traffic. I presume this traffic is analyzed with updates from cars individually reporting position updates. There is also a disclosure screen at startup that lets the driver opt out of being connected.

I worked as a transportation researcher for a fair number of years. I analyzed anonymized data based on 1 second cell phone GPS pings to calculate traffic conditions. There are a few companies that buy up all the cell phone GPS data (you can look them up) and sell this information to various agencies and universities.
