I registered as a Republican in California on Jan 7, 2012 using http://www.bluerepublican.org/welcome-to-blue-republican/california/california-democrat/

Now I got a postcard from the San Mateo County Registration and Elections Division saying "You are receiving this letter because you are not registered with a political party and are considered a No Party Preference voter."

This means I cannot vote in the Republican Primary.

Questions:

1. How did I get unregistered?
2. What happened to the bluerepublican.org site?
3. How do I register as a Republican?

https://www.smgop.org/join has ways to donate, but does not specifically say how to register as a Republican.

WTF? How to register as a Republican should be the top item on their site, in BIG letters.

They assume since you live in California you are a lib, or your vote doesn't matter.

I found a note on that says you have to re-register if you want to change your party affiliation in CA.

So I re-registered using https://smcacre.gov/elections/registerre-register-vote but didn't give permission for them to use my DMV signature from my driver's license. So in theory, I will get a form in the mail now which I can sign and send back.

It will be interesting to see if I actually get the form, and if I then actually get registered as a Republican once again, and then if I'm allowed to vote in the primary...

Pretty amazing that my county GOP site does not say how to register as a Republican, only how to donate.

It was a physical postcard that said I had no party preference. I looked up my party preference online at https://smcacre.gov/elections/my-election-info and found it is true, somehow I am no longer registered as a Republican. How can that even happen if I didn't do it?

oh you have to register a party in CA? Here in GA you can just say it as you go to the voting office. There is usually a print out with all the names and then you say which party you want. You cannot change parties in one voting round when you chose one. If you do not choose a party you only get the independent candidates to vote for

Thanks @Ingrid

I didn't know that. I guess all the states have different rules, but then, the US Constitutions does say that the manner of voting is up to the individual states.

I got an answer from the county about how I got de-registered as a Republican:

"it looks like you got registered as an NPP voter by the DMV in 2021 when you renewed your driver’s license"

Maybe there was some checkbox I overlooked?

Another answer from the county:

"I think it used to be kind of mid application and a lot of people were skipping it. Enough people were doing it that it was noticed, and the DMV has since moved the location of the choice from what I understand."

I only recently found out how many states do not require proof of citizenship ! I assumed that was a must. There are several, and I now grasp what my AZ ex meant when he told me they would bring in busses full of snowbirds, pay them a couple hotel days, and then drive them back home. Here you must have a photo ID and they compare your signature and your pic!

They just want to double check you so they can be sure to program the voting machines to flip your vote.

And my local Republican party replied:

"I heard that DMV automatically registered everyone as NPP when you renew your license and don't declare party preference."

So that's what happened.

I doubt something that significant could be an accident. Maybe the goal was to reduce the number of Republicans on the rolls so that they could not vote in the presidential primary.

Why bother? Your vote doesn't matter and your registration may even be used against you via future criminal prosecution "Registering as a Republican is a HATE crime!"

It's just how I am. I'm going to vote for Trump in the primary exactly because they don't want me to.

I don't even like Trump all that much since he won't admit that vaxx has killed millions of people. But I still want him to be the Republican nominee.

He's going to be the nominee no matter what.

Like I said the only people who are willing to put in the precinct, and party administrative work, are those trying like hell to rig the elections to suit their masters, and prevent Trumptonian candidates from winning. The only way to change that is to join your local party.

That attitude is how they stole the 2020 election. Perception of the masses is 90% of the politics.
In the days when they had a raucous constituency that had the consensus that if they fucked around they would find out. They didn't pull as much shit.
But when 90% of the people say... "The elections are honest, they can't rig the votes.." While they are obviously doing it in our faces, boarding up the windows and all. They know they can get away with anything. Even the Judges are saying nobody has legal standing to prevent it.

Keep your thoughts of "Why bother?" to yourself. They aggregate into permission to do what in ever in the fuck they want. Between that attitude and the constituencies laziness to participate in the process, they got it sewed up tight.

So you don't have to be a US citizen to vote in California, but you have to declare a party!? Sooo broken...
18   Patrick   2023 Dec 7, 7:22am

It's a Republican Party rule that you have to be a registered Republican to vote in their primaries.

You'll vote for a dead man?

The groups of Libtards from Sacramento have played this perfectly. They know that their base of sheeple will keep following instructions and fill out the voter registration after each DL renewal. A lot of previously registered Republicans in California probably skip the voter registration part of the DL renewal, because they've already done it before
23   Patrick   2023 Dec 16, 5:05pm

Yup.
