I’ll start it off. I’ve slowly eased my way back into running after bilateral blown quads. My running shoe of choice for quite a while has been the Brooks Ghost. I just ordered the Brooks Glycerin 20, enticed by the greater chushioning, but now seem to be having the same issues that I had with the Hokas I threw out a ways back - too springy which leads to lower back pain. I am afraid I have wandered down that same path the with Glycerins, so I just ordered a pair of Ghost 15’s to compare. BTW, Amazon has some funny pricing algorithms at work. Recently discounted Ghost 15’s are now displayed on their website, but you can’t try before you buy the discounted ones. Cash up front, bud.

And please join me for the Suppinators Lives Matter (SLM) march on the US capitol building January 1. Only neutral running shoes are avaiable to us, while the pronators get their own pronation correction running shoes. Silence is Violence!

I like the GIF. Not sure if this is sarcasm or not. Either way you shouldn't run. It's terrible for your body/knees and does little to nothing for weight loss if that's a goal.

Light weight lifting, under 20lbs, high reps and moving will give you the body you want. Running won't. It really doesn't take much. Running 30-45 min does nothing. Just walking and being on your feet 3-6 hours is better with light lifting is best. If you want to be the hulk, this won't work. Running won't make you thin though either.

I've managed to injure myself both with weights and by running. I just need to pay attention and stop at the right time. I love pull-ups, but rotator cuff injury can be really painful.

I wait a while, and then start again with both. I'll never completely stop either.

That is just about the hottest animated gif I've ever seen.

Correct.

Running is bad. I'll never concede a running argument. It's just bad. Lifting is fine. Low weight and high reps. You can go crazy when you're young, but once you hit 30, I don't think you should be doing 20lbs or more. Low and slow like a BBQ. Do more reps at a lower weight. If you want big arms you have a tiny penis. Not gonna sugar coat it. Women or dudes, I think a tone, lean body is more attractive. Hulked up women make me want to puke. The dudes are usually gay.

I enjoy running, usually feel really good after it. It does hurt your knees if you do too much downhill, and it's totally possible to get hurt in other ways, but mostly it's fine for me. I go pretty slow now that I'm in my 50's, but it's not a race, at least not anymore. I used to join trail running races along with my wife.

I've caused myself more pain with weights and pullups. I like to keep the weight at the point where I can do eight reps. I've got a 40 lb dumbbell for curls and overhead presses. That's perfect for me. 30 is too little, and 50 is too much. During the work-at-home year, I was doing some weights every hour because being stuck at home was driving me crazy. That was a mistake. It's good to take every other day off at least.

Yeah, I wouldn’t run to lose weight. Just cutting out cheap carbs does it.

Running is primordial. It’s solitary. You have to learn how to pace yourself. You can make unlimited progress in distance and time. And there is that endorphin rush that I don’t usualy get from treadmills, ellipticals, exercycles, etc.

I am doing weights at home - dumbells, cowbells, and am contemplating joining a gym soon to do more.

The GIF - yes, pretty choice. Either that or Homer Simpson.

cowbells

Does loud clamoring noise cause weight reduction? What about the neighbors?

Running is the worst exercise for heavy people trying to lose weight, esp if they were sedentary.

The last thing you want to do after years of being heavy and sedentary is to start putting a massive shock of all new repetitive, long duration compression stress on your joints.

Best thing is weight lifting but switching rapidly with no rest between different muscle groups. Shoulder, then chest with no rest other than to switch weights, then biceps... no rest. Then start at the beginning. After a set or super set of 5-15 minutes of constant weight lifting, though it be lighter/medium weights, strengthens the ligs over time slowly without the shock.

Then find a cardio exercise. Body weight squats and lunges are powerful if you do them 15-20 minutes. As is simply swimming, esp against the tide/rough water if you're near a beach. Also the salt water is a great cleanser and many micronutrients get absorbed via your skin.

You call it jogging I call it running around
You say you're losing weight but you ain't lost a pound
While you're out jogging with your other friends
I'm home feeding the kids again
You call it joggin' I call it running around
You call it joggin' I call it running around
It's the best release you say you've ever found
Your friends all smile and agree yeah you were running around on me
You call it joggin' I call it running around
Somebody said they saw you down at the corner getting out of some stranger's car
You come home after running for hours ain't even breathing hard
Hm
You call it joggin' I call it running around
The soles of your running shoes they ain't wearing down
While you're out running up and down the streets
I'm at home trying to get the kids to sleep
Sh
You call it joggin' I call it running around
You been out since 5pm
It's now 30 minutes past 10
You blow in all out of breath
Honey you been drinking gin again?
You call it joggin' I call it running around
Draggin' that silly old towel all over town
You come home grinning with your hair all wet
Smelling like shampoo instead of sweat
Mm mm mm
You call it joggin' I call it running around
Oh yeah
You all it joggin' I call it running around
Yeah

I'm really enjoying the salt I made by boiling two gallons of seawater for about a day. I got maybe 3/4 of a pint of salt from that.

The flavor is definitely much better than table salt, but I don't know why.
