#mastersoftheair I have a streaming mini-series that I am going to give all of you a most strong recommendation. I am proud to have had an uncle named John Robert Helms. He rose to the rank of major in the U.S. Army Air Corps. In World War II, he found himself flying a B-17 bomber from the US to Greenland and onto England. He flew the required 25 combat missions doing bombing missions over Norway, France, and Germany. Some 33% of the B-17s that lifted off on these bombing runs did not make it back to England. My uncle was a great aircraft commander and a great pilot. He carried his crew through all the missions with no crew member even injured.
The B-17 was developed around 1935 and had been in service for several years when World War II began. It carried 12 machine guns, It was known as "The Flying Fortress." It could fly up to 25,000+ feet at a creeping speed of 260 miles per hour. When any of us get into a jet airliner for a flight, we can fly in our shirtsleeves. Our jet airliner can fly as high as 42,000 feet where temperatures drop to -60 Fahrenheit. We do not need an oxygen mask. The cabin is pressurized and heated.
My Uncle John Robert flew in an airplane that was unpressurized and where temperatures dropped to -50 Fahrenheit on every combat mission. Crew members had to wear oxygen masks and heavy clothing to survive the polar winter temperatures. When they got near to their targets, they were exposed to a massive amount of anti-aircraft shells exploding all around each plane. Many German fighter aircraft manned by very skilled pilots came to shoot them down.
Steven Spielberg has produced an incredible high-budget mini-series with the title Masters of the Air. For those curious, here is a link to the IMDB report on the mini-series:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2640044/?ref=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_6_nm_2_q_Masters%2520Of%2520The%2520Air

The crew that produced this series had a passion for perfection in every detail shown in the series. It goes beyond the high budget. It is as if every man and woman working on the project poured their heart and soul into the project. I'm sure that if my Uncle John Robert was awakened from the grave and allowed to watch the series, he would say: "Oh my gosh, that's what it's really like!"
Ladies have little interest in war movies, as a rule. Yes, there are powerful combat scenes in this series. Over half the series follows the lives of the young men taken away from their lives in the US to fly "in harm's way." There is a lot of character development and things that women will love in a film.

It's a commercial product produced to make money. There's no allegiance to historical accuracy by Pedowood. There never has been and never will be.

I'm surprised people believe the nonsense that is produced as "historical re-enactments" in this day and age. For example, did you know that the Apollo 13 had film equipment onboard and the entire mess was recorded? That was composed into several documentaries, nobody saw, but they saw that insipid film.

I said it like 2 years ago or so. Ohomen. FUCKING paragraph breaks. You realize half the people are reading this on their phone. Even on a computer it's just one glob of text. Your content is unreadable. I know you're older, but it's basic grammar and formatting skills you should have learned in 8th grade even if you're 80.

I didn't. :)

Totally didn't catch that until you brought that up.

Seems I can pun subconsciously.

I have a buddy every time I see him. He brings up some trivial information that he saw on Youtube. One day he was going on about all of the Movie actors from the Post WWII era, were all decorated war heroes. I mean pick one, and look it up, he was either a radio operator in combat or a bomber pilot.

I told him everyone back then was a part of the war effort. Any actor in that era that did not see combat or was not part of the war effort in someway. Would have been a coward and an enemy of the state. Even our Fathers or Grand Fathers were war hardened bad asses. But somehow they managed to leave it behind when the war was over and live very productive lives, without being hindered with mental issues.

I think the psychological issues plaguing our military men today, are due to the leadership and the mind fucking they get in active combat zones.

WWII combat vets were not made to feel like war criminals every time they defended their positions, or weren't put in situations where they were fired on, ,and forbidden to return fire. They damn sure weren't ordered to occupy civilian areas, with enemies behind every door, using them for human shields, at the peril of the service men there.

I think the psychological issues plaguing the military men of today, is all of them, in some part of their mind, know they aren't doing ANY service for this country, and aren't defending this nation, and are acting a thugs for a criminal syndicate that controls the nation.

No weapons of mass destruction program in Iraq. Qaddafi wasn't about to create a humanitarian crisis in Libya, but the US military created one. Assad wasn't gassing his own people, and let's be honest, even if he was, that has nothing to do with the security of the United States. Afghanistan, the main accomplishment in that war was that Afghanistan tripled opium production as US servicemen guarded opium fields. In Afghansistan, servicemen were forced to work with pederasts that raped little boys.

Now who would willingly join an organization that would do that sort of shit?

1) the ignorant and naive
2) the sociopaths
3) the stupid
4) the mentally ill

That's what our all volunteer military is made up of today. The ignorant and naive walk out of it fucked up. The sociopaths continue this, and they rise through the ranks, the stupid end up fucked up, and the mentally ill start out that way and get worse.

Bush Sr., being a Nazi infiltrator, apparently killed the soldiers on a bomber mission and forced the landing so that the Germans could examine the plane, then claimed he was the sole survivor in some tear jerking war story when he 'miraculously' made it back.

I'm not into artificial accounts since they lie so much about history. WWII becomes more bizarre the more you peek behind the curtains, if you can even peek behind the curtains.
