They certainly didn't 'walk in'. The caravans were given color coded bracelets, cell phones, fed, watered, and, of course, given Jesuit credit cards. The invasion was highly organized and subsidized. They were bused for longer journeys. They only trekked a short distance on foot to the border crossings. The pictures of immigrants supposedly walking across Mexico from the Darien Gap wearing thin clothes and flip flops of course were bogus.
Entire towns were vacated for the North American paid one way vacation and incentives.
