That is the way I think Social Security will go. Go back and listen to when FDR discussed "social insurance" which became Social Security.

There were not enough votes in Congress to create a "social insurance" plan, so ultimately Social Security was created, which is like a pension plan.

My guess is they'll increase taxes especially on those senior citizen couples household earning more than $80,000 a year. This is like those couples receiving less in Social Security. Its an implied or subtle "means test".

I knew the United Kingdom's Labor Party was going to come out with policies like "pension reforms" on the middle to upper class pensioners. But I doubt the Labor Party will be as drastic as what the "new government" in France will propose.
