AfD politicians remember horros of socialism so well they don't mind taking advantage of it in Belarus:

Jörg Dornau signed a contract in 2020 with the local government in a district near the Belarus border to Lithuania to start onion cultivation there.

He promised 45 new jobs outside the city of Lida. But they seem to have gone to political prisoners who were imprisoned after the protests against dictator Aleksandr Lukashenko in the wake of the rigged presidential election in the autumn of 2020.

One of the prisoners who was forced to work on the farm was Andrej, who was imprisoned after liking a post on social media. He tells the independent Belarusian news site Reform.news, which exposed the prisoner exploitation, that he received five euros per working day – if he was considered to have worked well enough.

The working day started with breakfast at 07:00 and lasted for eleven hours without any more food until 18:00 in the evening.

Jörg Dornau visited the facility at least once during the time Andrej worked there.

"I saw him, a tall, bald man", says Andrej, and gives a precise description of Dornau...

"He came in his German-registered car. He came into the shed where we sorted onions with employed workers."

The politician received criticism already when his business dealings in Belarus became known, and in August, he was fined the equivalent of 235,000 kronor by his parliament for not having disclosed them.

Today, 1,324 political prisoners are imprisoned in Belarus, according to the human rights organization Vjasna's figures. Andrej, who was imprisoned for 15 days in February, is no longer one of them.

About working in Jörg Dornau's onion farm, he has nothing positive to say, except for one thing:

"The onions were good."

The brings me to the crazy and ridiculous firewall against the AfD – the unending Antifa-enforced political tabu upon achieving anything with AfD votes at the state or federal level. AfD support is held to be contaminating, regardless of whatever it is the AfD happen to be supporting. It can turn even the most ordinary routine legislation into dark evil malicious fascism. ...

The AfD also benefits enormously from the firewall, even though it’s not of their making. The last ten years of German politics have been one unending nightmarish festival of failure and stupidity. All the establishment parties have taken turns implicating themselves in this amazing shitshow, while religiously sparing the AfD any association with their unprecedented failures.

The entire state of Rheinland-Pfalz is toying with a strategy to outright ban AfD candidates from elected office, in this, the best and most democratic Germany of all time

The backstory here is ominous in its simplicity:

Back in July, the Rheinland-Pfalz Interior Minister Michael Ebling published a “Declaration of Constitutional Loyalty.” All civil servants in his state are asked to sign this declaration and thereby to attest their loyalty to the Basic Law and the state constitution. They must also pledge that they are not presently members of any of the groups currently considered to be “extremist” by the goons in the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Any civil servant who refuses to sign this bizarre document will be subjected to bureaucratic harassment in the form of an “individual review,” which could result in disciplinary proceedings or even termination.

So the "Office for the Protection of the Constitution" gets to decide that groups peacefully opposed to flooding Germany with violent 3rd worlders are "extremist".

This is the diametrical opposite of democracy. It is tyrannical suppression of legitimate opposition.

The Law Against the Formation of Parties (German: Gesetz gegen die Neubildung von Parteien), sometimes translated as the Law Against the Founding of New Parties, was a measure enacted by the government of Nazi Germany on 14 July 1933 that established the Nazi Party (NSDAP) as the de jure only political party in Germany.

Quite similar to what the German government is doing right now.
