Historic North Carolina village under water after devastating damage from Helene

Fast-moving water surged above front-door steps, inundating buildings and small businesses as Asheville appeared nearly flattened by Helene.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. —A historic village in western North Carolina is under water after bearing the brunt of devastating flooding damage from Hurricane Helene.

Tree branches, logs and a dumpster floated across Asheville’s Biltmore Village, renowned for being built and owned by a single individual.

Asheville, NC city council (h/t Denninger).

From what I've observed and learned over the last 20 years about the Asheville metro area, it is as much Democrat as the Atlanta metro area.

Its a white liberal mountain community utopia or oasis. And obviously heavily vest in the arts.

And it looks like the most damage north of Florida was not in Georgia but in the Asheville metro area. I wonder how Hurricane Helline may impact voting in the upcoming election which is less than 40 days away.

That is why I would want to live further away from a base of a mountain as far as landslide risks, and live at least 50 feet above the nearest mountain river or major creek.

Do you position boats in the hurricane path beforehand? Seems not very wise.

Yes. It wasn't a hurricane when it hit. It was remnants, maybe tropical storm level. Position boats at elevation and drive and drop them in the aftermath. Ratchet straps tie things down daily in cars going 80mph. This is basic stuff. This was known at least 3 days prior. No one did a damn thing.

I'm talking about Georgia and the Carolinas. Not much you could do for FL. Storm surge would be too dangerous.

There's that, and then there's the long-term effects of continental rising, where in North America, the central continental areas are rising, including the mountains, which increases the downward slope of the gradient by which melt- or rainwater flows. This in turn causes the water table to rise, because more water is annually flowing into continental aquifers. Basements in WNY used to be bone dry, now they're getting wet and flooding. This is 500ft above sea level and the better part of 1000 miles from any seacoast.

When will Bill Gates be seeding malaria mosquitos laced with mRNA by helicopter under the aegis of the Red Cross and FEMA?

I imagine Red Cross will want to harvest body parts before they are too soft and soggy, and grab whatever children for the pedo and tissue mills.

They'll set up another fake fund with a huge, fake, inaccessible financial figure attached to their propaganda that some aid is going through, then just wait for the memory hole to swallow the issue up and leave the people in the areas contending with their own miseries and rebuilding.

I wouldn't be surprised if FEMA and DHS bombarded the fields with salt.

FEMA in the Florida Keys

THE REASON they gave us, was that these donations were not from companies on their "preferred vendors list" and that they would not accept them or give them to the residents of the keys impacted by the storm.

It was at that point that I realized, this is ALL ABOUT MONEY.

These 'preferred vendors" are getting part of the money being released by the state and federal govt for each disaster. In turn, some of the "vendors" make it on the list because a friend gets them on the list, and in return for getting ridiculously outlandish amounts of compensation for the services they render, they give kickbacks.

So accepting outside donations, even though they are on location and can help people NOW, they would rather let people suffer so they can get their kickbacks.

This meeting solidified my resolve to help these people, regardless of what the greedy officials wanted, we were going to feed the lower keys that were being neglected.

I still think you need to be prepared as a human. I feel bad to an extent. But at some point people are just stupid. Build in stupid spots. The bad part outside of the deaths is most won't be able to make an insurance claim on damage.

I mean we're talking probably 10k plus people being legit homeless with this. Maybe more. Your run of the mill insurance doesn't cover flooding. I highly doubt a lot of these homeowners had flood insurance unless required for the loan. Lost all their shit and have to pay to live in a hotel room for months.

Then there's infrastructure. Houston with Harvey was one thing, mostly flat. Dries out and back to normal. These were flash floods in hilly/mountainous areas wiping out major roads. You can't get shit in to rebuild if you even can. The roads need to get rebuilt.

I do question the death count. I wouldn't be surprised if it hits 1k. I don't think anyone took it seriously. Floridians I know likely did, but Georgia and NC folks thought it would die out after landfall. They got their asses handed to them.

The article in this morning's WSJ mentioned owners of a small business in that community who put their life savings into a small business. Since the flood insurance premium was $6000 they opted not to get the policy.

The quote in WSJ was that their decision not to pay for flood insurance was "data driven". Lost everything.

Over here on The Left Coast a friend bemoaned their HOA doubled in recent months due to insurance costs.

Over time these new realities will grind down ®eal Estate prices, or at least slow their appreciation.

But that's OK, because remember: climate change is a hoax.

climate change is a hoax.

But, weather warfare isn't a hoax. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you? It's cheap and people are too flourided to acknowledge it, and don't know what to do about somebody pulling the trigger from a DEW satellite or a HAARP array half way around the world. It's like a boot on an ant colony where the ants don't know where the boot came from, but it is from malevolent and organized human intent.

I think the insurance companies are protecting themselves against weather warfare, since the usual attributions to terrorism or war don't hold (yet).
27   Ceffer   2024 Oct 3, 9:06am

So, it is turning out to be warfare against a segment of the population of North America under color of natural disaster. They just mowed down a corridor, and now will occupy. They are using DEW and HAARP to plunder our own country the same way that our mercenary armies have plundered foreign countries for the Raj under force of arms.

We are just another country ripe for foreign conquest with the fig leaf of natural disaster. You'll probably find the blueprints in Switzerland, BIS, various corporate and government investors' safes and the foreign occupied foreign city state of Washington DC.

The people, their towns, their homes and their farms are such an annoyance. Sweep them away with wind, floods and fires because the Globalists and Freemasons and their Corporatocracies are GODS.

You'll see soldiers and strange police (NATO?) cordoning off vast tracts against the prying eyes of the previous owners and natives.

You can see the pattern of artificially induced disaster followed by invasion (FEMA, DHA, Red Cross etc.) and troops/foreign police with extraordinary negligence of the needs of the displaced and suffering. They barely hide it. They just want the people to 'go away'.

Me: What the heck…? That's quite disturbing. Is this first-hand, second-hand, or more distant info?

Them: Our friend owns an Airbnb in Chimney Rock. They had a town meeting yesterday and someone from the federal government told them all of those things in the town meeting, but doesn’t want the information getting out. Also, they are not picking up the bodies. The stench of the bodies everywhere is insane and for some reason, the government does not want to pick up the bodies. One pastor of a local church was going to order to door delivering water and they changed their delivery request to body bags because so many of the homes that they’ve gone to have needed body bags, we’re trying to keep the body count. They’re not picking up the bodies. They don’t wanna identify the bodies and they’re just leaving them to rot in the streets."

This seems like the most honest charity for those who want to help the people in North Carolina:

https://www.cajunnavyrelief.com/

The Mission of Cajun Navy Relief is to save lives.

We are a group of volunteers who work tirelessly without pay to provide immediate rescue and relief during natural disasters. Rescue and relief are our way of sharing the South Louisiana cultural tradition of neighbors helping neighbors with people in need across the United States. By integrating civilian volunteers into the Incident Command Structure we can act as a force multiplier for agencies responding to disasters.

I'm not certain that all the money goes to help, but they have a good vibe to them.

It actually is a hoax. We really haven't had that many hurricanes. Farmers are harvesting now here in IL with record crops. No droughts, no flood, nothing. Perfect weather all spring, summer and fall. Just the right amount of rain. Only one tornado just south of me.

This is the first major hurricane to make landfall since Harvey I believe. We go the the Caribbean in October because the rates are cheap. No hurricanes.

It's climate manipulation, not change. A warming earth is better for everyone, people just don't understand. CO2 is better for the earth. Helps plants, crops, etc. It's like no one took a science class and remembers this.

If we had a 100 year rain events every year, then sure, maybe there's a point. That's not happening. We have one off events that always happened and people freak out. Muahhhhh climate change.

The ice caps could 100% melt and it would make no difference. The land changes because of tectonic plates. Has nothing to do with water level. That doesn't change. You could argue the evaporation causes bigger storms, but your beach front home won't be in the sea because of it. The surface of the earth moves. Hell it grows. This is 5th grade science and maybe some college level geology. It's political and lobbying.

From Tucker Carlson network:

If it wasn’t already obvious, the people in charge of America do not care about Americans.

Just look at the government’s response to Hurricane Helene. 160 Americans are dead. Hundreds are still missing.

The American South has been utterly devastated by a natural disaster, and yet if you listen to the people in charge and their lackeys in the corporate media, more important things are going on.

After all, there is armed conflict in foreign nations that are thousands of miles away in the Middle East.

Further, both the president and vice president are simply too busy to care. President Joe Biden is on his umpteenth vacation in Delaware while Vice President Kamala Harris campaigns and fundraises.

Not even Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has stopped by to see if the region’s infrastructure is holding up. Spoiler alert: it isn’t.

No one in the White House appears to care that millions of Americans are suffering and that potentially thousands could soon die.

If the nonchalance with which this disaster is being treated wasn’t enough to convince you that your rulers hate you, consider the following: the Biden-Harris administration repurposed more than a billion dollars allocated by FEMA for disaster relief to subsidize the room, board, and who knows what else for illegal immigrants.

According to reports, $364 million dollars from fiscal year 2023 and $650 million from fiscal year 2024 have been allocated not for disaster relief but “to provide humanitarian services to noncitizen migrants following their release from the Department of Homeland Security.”

This isn’t just negligence or shortsighted decision-making.

This is a purposeful decision to prioritize noncitizens over the people who actually belong to this country.

This is not even on national scale. 2 days ago, we got an email from the state govt where to get help. Yesterday we get a phone message at 9 at night (we had just gone to bed, exhausted) NOT to drive over fallen wires or inundated streets. Talking about a little too late. Luckily lots of crews offered up weekend and night rest to help us back to electricity, and many locals helped with water and food. Now everything is coming to a close, the govt wakes up.

This needs to go far and wide to put pressure on the government to do the right thing and save lives.

This evening, from a Peak Prosperity member to me via PM at my site:

I suspect 90% of the reason is to delay things until they get money to overpay "Preferred Vendors" like Service Corporation International to collect the dead bodies.

"You can't deliver aid, we need to wait for an emergency authorization so we can pay Sysco to deliver reheated corn starch snacks."
38   goofus   2024 Oct 3, 3:02pm

I went looking for church groups to donate to, based on posts/tweets that fema was confiscating donations, requiring ‘training’ with United Way, and generally getting in the way. They can’t by law confiscate church-raised funds.

I sent money here. Looks hardcore Christian, but those groups might most reliable at times like this:
