#halloweenmovies After a week of bad news and stress, let's have some fun. The morning newspaper has a great article about horror films. "Tis the season for horror movies (Halloween)." With all the streaming platforms available, all of us worldwide have many viewing options. Elena is a connoisseur of horror films. She is very picky and hard to please. I have different criteria for judging films like this. There always has to be a character study in these movies. You take seemingly average people. You get to know who they are. In other words, there is character development. Then you put these people in extraordinary and very frightening circumstances. You find out who they are and what they are made of.
Elena and I both agree that we love low-budget films from around the world that often are not huge commercial successes. Last night, I stumbled upon a great horror film on Hulu. It originated on the SyFy Channel. The title of the movie is "Dead In The Water." Here is the IMDB report on the film:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8883164/?ref=fn_al_tt_3
Of interest to our South African readers is one of the cast members is a well-known South African actress-Tanya van Graan. I first got to know her while watching a brilliant 2004 South African mini-series on nuclear terrorism-"Snitch."
An old ship is in the North Pacific. It has an all-woman crew. It is from an organization like Green Peace. It is hunting for fishing vessels that overfish and violate their quotas. They find a Chinese fishing vessel that is breaking the rules. A little later, they rescue a man in a lifeboat. He later becomes violent and one of the crew members kills him in self-defense. A deadly parasite is unleashed on the ship. The rest of the film is sort of like the movie "Alien." with the women fighting for survival. It is full of suspense and scary.

Wut!? There's not one damn movie made today on Hulu, Prime, Netflix or in the theater, that isn't a dystopian, Alien invasion, Demonic resurrection, slasher, Zombie apocalypse, or horror movie. I would be fine if October became Family Movie month. And would be further impressed if they managed to produce one.

Maybe the South African readers dig zombie Zulu apocalypse murder and mayhem against whites in the Veldt.

Eh. I generally only watch comedy. Nothing that will ever get an award, which I despise award "winning movies" anyway. Although horror movies are actually funny to me. I like seeing people freak out over fake bullshit.

The only one that got me was Freddy Kruger. My parents let me watch it when I was 5. The movie itself didn't scare me, but it gave me extremely vidid nightmares. And not joking, with shrooms or LSD Freddy usually makes a visit. It's hard for me to ever have a bad trip though.

Worst was puke (not me) at a concert and a bunch of retarded barefoot hippies slipping and sliding in it. It didn't make me want to puke, but I started questioning what planet I'm on and do I want to be here. Just over an 1/8th of shrooms.
