Since 1300, and especially since the 1800s when the pulp novel was a profitable enterprise due to printing and commodity prices, the Romantic Religion has replaced Christendom.

People will say, do, and act far more to defend Romantic Love than the Lord or Good Morality.

Romantic Love that is neither Storge (love of family) or Agape (love of divinity) based.

Many Atheists, Milquetoasts, and many more conservative Believers alike did more to defend Amber Heard's "Honor" than they would their own ideals of divinity or science or skepticism.

"It's natural"

No, Romantic Love is UNnatural. It was alien to Greeks, Romans, Hebrews, Egyptians, Chinese, Indians, Amazonian Tribesmen, and the entire world until around the 1800s. Gnaeus Pompey was mocked both in Grafitti on the Street and his fellow Optimates for showering his young wife Julia with excessuve attention and affection not due a wife, but a high class courtesan, and started to be seen as a besotted Old Man.

In Asia, the word for "Care" - "Ai" - became repurposed with love only as a result of Western Contact. Again, directing what we call Romantic Love as a grown man and not limited in youth or on the downlow to a mistress/sidechick was considered Scandalous, Unmanly, and a neglect of fatherly duties, INCLUDING during most of Western Christendom, not just among Pagans.

However, the tide is turning and many are realizing that a man's first purpose cannot be towards a woman, but higher ideals. Men who are still stuck in the satanic counterfeit of the Christian Chivalric Warrior Code implemented to uphold Christian Behavior of Care for Society as a whole, are now rightly called "Simps"

A man serves God first, then his family as the Good King over them all (including the wife), etc. In Romantic Love, man serves a woman's wants first above all other things.

I just read about Pompey in Plutarch's "Lives" a few days ago. When I got to the line that said "Pompey was considered unusually fond of his wife" I laughed out loud. Told it to my own wife.

I guess things were different then, and having a wife was more of a business relationship, or maybe a political alliance thing.

If god comes down to earth in the form of Rita Hayworth and I take her out on a date, I'll worship her over women.
Otherwise, I'm most in love with the person brushing his teeth in the mirror every morning.
Secondly, I love women.

Marriage was never about love, just an agreement to 1) confer legitimacy and inheritance rights to any issue of the wife, and 2) acknowledge the covenant between the state/society and the family, where the family is responsible for raising the next generation in exchange for various advantages from the state.

Once women reject their duty to perpetuate a society, that society is doomed. Birthrates collapse and the society can't defend itself against the marauding hordes (and marauding whores). It's a 2-way street. Back in the day, people knew that the monogamous marriage was a compromise, a sop to the otherwise incels, that they could tap some ass in exchange for their productive fealty to the society.

That contract has been broken. Society will become increasingly chaotic unless there is pussy equity, not 8 thots for every Chad, and none for the incel gammas.

My two cents:

Actually, I have been thinking about this very subject lately. My own experience goes back to the culture of the 1960s that promoted 'happiness' based upon some fictional, imaginative, romantic love relationship. Back then, the entire entertainment industry, but particularly music and movies, centered their attention on romantic love relationships, which in reality, typically do not last because they are based upon a very fickle foundation of feelings. What's more, true happiness should never be centered upon another human being. If it is, be prepared for an eventual major let down.

Relationships that last are those in which a commitment has been made by both, regardless of the seasons of feelings that we all go through. For example; there are days that I don't 'feel' as much love for my wife that I have in the past, but that doesn't change my commitment to her. I have reason to believe that holds true for her as well. Stability is, IMO, a very important factor in life. A negative example; I had a brother that was a life-long womanizer, a real true narcissist. From literally the first week, he cheated on his first wife, who eventually divorced him. In the end, he left chaos, misery and broken relationships scattered everywhere he went, including those of his 4 daughters, 3 of whom wanted nothing to do with him. What a legacy.
