Nonsense rant to follow herewith:
I am constantly surprised by the difference between how Canadians are towards me when I am in Canada and when I'm in Baja Sur, Mexico.
The Canadians in Baja Sur are assholes with a chip on their shoulder about 1. the USA 2. Trump 3. Americans 4. American health care.
I foolishly joined a Facebook group of expats in La Paz, BCS, Mexico. The original purpose was to help my Mexican "girlfriend" sell something that they'll likely be interested in; memorabilia is not cross cultural.
They all want to have surgery in Mexico because in Canada they'll be put on some waiting list forever and die of boredom or the cold while they wait.
Disclosure: I am never getting any surgical procedure done in Mexico nor any other third world country. I have just one body and I am not fucking around with it.
It's pretty easy to spot the Canadian females in La Paz; they're generally fugly.
Of all of the times I have traveled to Canada I had a great time and the people were great.
Canadians have a reputation in Mexico of being cheapskates. This may be true.
"What's the difference between a Canadian and a canoe?"
"Canoes tip."

I've only seen Canadians in their natural habitat and they didn't seem all that different from Americans, tbh.

That's their French shining through. They're ass holes. They're of much more singular European ethnicity, French. They'll play nice when you visit them. They are ass holes when they go to Mexico. I've witnessed the lack of politeness from Canadians when they're in a foreign country. They believe they are better.

Never got the tipping thing. What's the big deal. I bring $2 bills and tip every time I get a drink at an AI in Mexico. About $40/day. Then $20/day at dinner. I don't eat much. Guess what every staff member knows my name by the end of the trip and would wipe my ass.

I don't think Canadians have a clue how poor most the people in Mexico are. If you can't afford the trip, don't go as well. At least respect them. I give my kids cash to tip. The Mexicans love my gringo ass. Bartenders will make $300 extra just on me and my kids. I do believe they split though unless you put it in an envelope with their name at most resorts. I'll toss the landscaper $10 just walking around in the morning with a mimosa.

Watching poor people serve me is sad. So I give them a bonus. Señor Thomas, here's your morning mimosa. I usually walk 3 miles in the morning and they'll just find me and keep feeding me. Take an early morning nap after getting fuzzy and get the day going around 9-10am. I'm up at 5am even on vacation. So 2hrs walking and drinking and restart the day. Insomnia is a bitch.
