Was Matt Geatz really a Trey Gowdy 2.0?

I had a lot of respect and hope for Matt Geatz. I can't believe he folder like he did. Even with the charges against him. Even Santos stood tall and faced into the headwind he didn't falter until the bitter end. I really would have expected Matt to have soldiered through and rode the storm out. Why he didn't leaves me to ponder several reasons.

1) He did the crimes and hoped by stepping away the issue would go away.
Response: But his alleged crimes are things that normally his constituents would have been left to grapple with. It's a moral issue with the constituency, but these aren't normal times. And to be honest these days, a proven heterosexual is a plus, not a detriment. I think he lost points with the evangelical crowd but not the majority of the base.

2) There are even bigger plans for him. like being appointed as a Mueller/Smith class of immutable prosecuting inspector, above the law and constitution to go after adversaries he's already investigated.
Response: It would explain why he's gone dark since he withdrew from AG nomination.

3) He was a Trey Gowdy all along. And when he's being pressed with typical political entrapping's, he's exposed as a political creature and can't bring himself to rise above it.
Response: That would mean his end game was always to promote himself while trying to seem like he gives a rip. Get up in congress and investigate the worst in America then let them off with a stern finger wagging. Then defer them to a corrupt DOJ that he knew damn well wouldn't do dick all about it. Suppose he'll end up on Fox next.

Trump realized he was a loser and told him to take a hike. Basically Trump fired him but allowed him to save face by quitting.

I think Trump asked him to bow out because he would be a distraction, and also the sex angle.
A sex scandal would be unwanted because they have been trying to fuck Trump over in New York with a bullshit fake scandal.

I like Matt Geatz and I don't care whom they say he fucked nor when nor how.

Women were put on this earth to be fucked by someone.

Edit: Sex scandals are just another tactic political hags use against men to help them gain leverage.
Guys like Chuck Schumer will of course go along.
There is still some shame attributed to men acting out their perfectly natural inherited instincts to fuck women. Women have very different instincts which revolve around getting a man to commit to her and protect and provide for her and her offspring. These are all built into your DNA.
Nobody seems to care if JFK fucked anything which walked, nor Clinton evidently.
I always notice how sites like Dailymail or NYPost talk about how much younger the girl is than Richard Gere, Leonardo Di Caprio, Kevin Costner, et al.
Guys date the hottest girls they can afford; some guys are lazy and don't succumb to their instincts, which is OK too (e.g. Pierce Brosnan)

I don't think so, Trump loves to publicly humiliate people who has fallen out of his favor.
Also that doesn't explain why he didn't pivot back to keeping his Congressional seat. Which he could technically still do.
As far as I know DeSantis still hasn't announced who will replace him. At least not to any fanfare, or pushback from the press.

All the more reason, I don't think Trump could be swayed by sex allegations, he knows firsthand just how bogus they can be.
I think they finally realized how effective he'll be as a special prosecutor/investigator. They are keeping the lid on it, so that the confirmation hearings don't turn into a shitshow. Which is why I think he was taken from AG consideration. Because it would have been a huge shit show to him nominated. I think they would have rejected everyone of his cabinet picks, had he continued on with Matt. He scares the shit out of them. But with Matt stepping down, it can be shown in good faith, that the Trump's cabinet picks aren't political retribution..

Problem is Trump knew Gaetz. Even I do via media. He's a rich kid around my age. Daddy got him out of a DUI (I believe). And fucked some women along the way consensually. Your basic 18-25 year old story line. I'm maybe a handful of friends I know that didn't get a DUI after high school. Gaetz's charges were dropped.

I don't think the women were the issue is my point. Getting off on the DUI I think was the bigger issue. They just went the women route first because likely half of Congress has been pulled over for DUI. A decent amount of Congress is women, so it was the easier avenue to block him because they'll just claim they were assaulted at one point. Then male Congress members don't want light shined on their past and would block him.

The poker term or whatever (don't gamble) was the pocket King or Ace of getting out of the DUI charges. Trump saw their hand and said it wasn't worth it. He couldn't get him through with a guy that likely had some illegal stuff done to get him out of a legal matter attempting to be the nations top lawyer. Also not a good look from a guy whose brother died from alcohol.

You have to be pretty pristine to be AG. Plus as a House member he likely has a bunch of dirt on other members from just conversation and committee hearings. I don't think he's a loser, but I do agree with PU that Trump said take a hike this ain't worth it kid.

People get fired sometimes because their liabilities eclipse any assets. Or even simply because a better candidate comes available. That is basically the premise of his old TV show. Trump has no beef with Matt, that I am aware of. But politically and perhaps in other ways, he is a loser.

I'd thought I'd read/heard something about Trump saying the two of them had a secret plan?

Oh we're doing the DUI thing now? People around the country beat DUI cases every day. It's called getting a good lawyer.
I once got a DUI and I know for a damn fact I wasn't drunk. So I'm no huge fan of destroying people's lives because they blew a .08.
That's bullshit, most people it doesn't affect any worse than a distracted driver trying to find a button on their new car, that forms a task. Cars used to be standardized and all of the switches knobs and controls, were pretty much the same and in the same places. Now they are in every random places, and buttons in one spot on one car, forms a totally different function on other cars. If he was really hammered and impaired then he would have never beat it.

My DUI, way back in the late 80's. I was driving my brother's 66 Chevelle. I went to an older coworkers house, his wife was a classical guitarist and opera singer. I was interested in vocal lessons, and some guitar chops pointers. I got there at 6pm, had 2 Heinekens in the space of 4 hours. I didn't really like beer back then, and drinking wasn't my thing. I was more of a pothead. On the way back, I wasn't paying attention to the road, and was looking in the rearview mirror. I thought I saw someone I knew, that I hadn't seen in a while. In those seconds of my eyes off the road. I rear ended a Cop Car stopped at the red light. He was so pissed, they threw me in the back of a car, drove me around for about an hour. I thought he was going to kick my ass the way he and his partner was talking. They were pissed. Finally they stopped at a mobile facility. Had me blow into a breathalyzer, but the digital readout was taped over. When the printout came out of the machine. They took it in the back, then minutes later came back out and told me I had a .088. That was bullshit, I was careless and stupid in my driving due to inexperience at the time. But I was not drunk. My public defender beat it for me.

I don't think Trump told him to take a hike. Trump revels in pilling it on, when a disgraced associate falls from his grace. If Matt was sent packing without future plans, and especially giving up his Congressional seat. Trump would have savaged him. Trump has him on ice for a reason.
Or he's Trey Gowdy 2.0.
I don't think Trump would have boasted he got rid of a blowhard, and didn't think Matt was really serious or up to the task. If that were the case, he would have just backed off Matt and told him to step aside. Let him go be another talking head on Fox news pretending to give a shit about any of this. As long as he is on our side. Sort of like Trump hasn't extended any cabinet positions to any Fox news host. Because he knows they are all talk and full of shit.

Wouldn't be shocked. Likely involves something with Florida either way. Most people don't really even know of Gaetz unless they watch podcasts or committee hearings. Or live in Florida.

I like his aggressive nature, but he still has a tool vibe to him personality wise.

Sidenote: Why TF is rumble preventing me from logging in unless I give them my birthdate given I've paid those asshats for a one year subscription!?

He didn't blow which is the problem. Most states don't drop a case if you don't blow. It's usually an automatic conviction by default. That's how it works in IL. Politicians don't want people looking over their past because of his. It was an automatic no for AG.

I know personally two of the top DUI lawyers in IL. My dad dealt with them as well. The planets most important attorney gets out of a DUI. That's not a good look. They took the woman route to make it easier to flip female members that vote AND guys that had their fun in younger years with women.

It was an un-clearable hurdle. Dems and Rino's had the better hand if looking at it objectively. And they were scared. What's the point in nominating someone that can't get it? You need a dark horse actor lawyer that looks amazing on paper and has experience. Being a House member really is not legal practice. He's young as well. He would have gone after people I'd want him to, but you can't do that if you don't get approved.

He has a punchable face, that is an immutable fact.
But if he's even 50% authentic. Then as an AG he would have done more damage to the Deep State than Donald Trump ever has.
He's already investigated everything and everyone. He was stonewalled, and issued recommendations to prosecution referrals that fell on DOJ deaf ears.
He could have hit the ground running, and used his punchable face to send them all to hell.

If you ever watched him in most of his committee hearings, he was the most genuine authentic member on the panel. He would even make Jim Jordon blush with his Frank bluntness. The way Matt is being persecuted now, reeks of the establishment stopping him at all cost, weighs more heavy than any modicum of truth that Matt is guilty of all alleged crimes.
They threw out Santos, and Goldbar Mendez, surely they would have had no problem getting rid of Matt Geatz long before now. He made everyone uncomfortable.

Hell even Donald himself might have made a concession with senior Congress members to drop Matt if he wants his nominations picked. Trump might have backed off Matt for that very reason. He scared everyone way too much.

It's the pedo shit. Argue the technicalities of the age of concent in different jurisdictions all you want, but the guy is a fucking trained lawyer, so for him to get snarled in that shit is even more inexusable.
15   Tenpoundbass   2024 Dec 31, 10:45am

If you predicate your support for someone based solely on the rejection, fluff and and manufactured hysteria from Politicians, you know and understand are even bigger vile digusing assholes. Then enjoy the government you elect.

I'm not the least bit interested in the Journey anyone's dick took to get where they are. Not in the least bit. And they got a DUI! Gasp (clutching pearls falling over in a drunken stupor) how dare they!

Is anyone trying to elect a Dick counselor, or a moral compass T-totaler? I bet Mike Johnson is so squeaky clean, there's nothing on paper about him. But I wouldn't trust that guy for anything. If Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton held you down on the alter of Satan, and passed Mike Johnson the ceremonial axe. He wouldn't hesitate a minute. Matt Geatz would be tweeting about it to his public within seconds. Not bad for a wayward Dick huh?

Pretty much what I said though. They went for the low hanging fruit. My wife is technically a sex offender as I was younger for 6 months. The the DUI on a no blow arrest is fishy with charges being dropped. As an AG nominee that was what they'd throw at him last. They threw their weight at the sex offender route as usual.

I don't even know the accusations. I get laws, but if he hooked up with a 17 year old when 20 and she lied, I don't see an issue with it. If he was banging 13 year olds, okay, that's an issue. I think he had the law bent for him to get out of an issue. I personally give no shits knowing plenty of people getting out of DUI's, but it's a bad look in combination with the ladies. Rino females would not vote him in. It was a non-starter.

This shit has to stop. The WOMAN was allegedly 17 fucking years old. It's only a moral crime "TODAY" because the Commies want us to stop matting while they import Muslims, Hindus and Afrikaners to replace us all, that marry 6 year olds and its a federal hate crime to object. Plus they reproduce like rabbits, while we're scared shitless to even use a pick up line on a girl at the bar.

There's several things about that case.

The Girl denies that sex ever happened.
She was in a Bar, she should have been carded and not allowed in.(A failing on the bar owner)
Matt didn't know how old she was. She lied, a point which came out in the report and investigation.
Possibly a honey trap from the start.

You're making my point. Gaetz was a threat to Congress members. I don't care about his past with the DUI or sleeping with chicks. Doesn't move me. He has to get approved. It wasn't going to happen. Trump saw it and gave him an out. It was the right decision even though I generally like Gaetz.

Not everyone will, but if the question comes up why didn't you approve Gaetz? They have nothing to say because 9 out of 10 of them were worried about being investigated. It's ass covering 101.

What needs to stop? Age of consent laws? It's a state mater. Don't like a particular law in a particular state - move or change it using legal means. A guy who's supposedly good enough to be a top lawyer for the US of A should not struggle with simple shit like that.
