Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in a video promising a shift toward free speech:
The US has the strongest constitutional protections for free expression in the world. Europe has an ever increasing number of laws institutionalizing censorship, and making it difficult to build anything innovative there. Latin American countries have secret courts that can order companies to quietly take things down. China has censored our apps from even working in the country. The only way that we can push back on this global trend is with the support of the US government, and that’s why it’s been so difficult over the past four years, when even the US government has pushed for censorship by going after us and other American companies.
Such an announcement is good news no matter how you look at it.

I don't believe Facebook after so much censorship for so long. Try saying "The mRNA injections are dangerous and ineffective" and try to tell if it's shadow-banned. Just ask someone else you're Facebook friends with if he or she can see that statement.

Facebook Dumps ‘Fact-checkers’ One Day After CHD Asks Supreme Court to Hear Censorship Case Against Meta
Less than 24 hours after Children’s Health Defense (CHD) petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to hear its censorship case against Facebook’s parent company, Meta, Mark Zuckerberg announced the company is ending its third-party “fact-checking” program.
“It’s time to get back to our roots around free expression on Facebook and Instagram,” Zuckerberg told viewers in a press release video. Meta also owns Instagram.
CHD sued Meta in November 2020 over the social media giant’s censorship practices. The company de-platformed CHD from Facebook and Instagram in August 2022 and has not reinstated the accounts.
Commenting on today’s news, CHD CEO Mary Holland told The Defender, “It’s clear that Mark Zuckerberg is worried about new anti-censorship policies of the incoming administration — as he should be. The record in CHD v. Meta clearly shows Facebook’s close collaboration with the White House to censor vaccine-related speech, even pre-COVID.”

I was just referred by Facebook email to a guy I knew from olden days as a potential 'friend' on Facebook. First thing I saw was his most recent post censored by Facebook/Meta.

Mark Zuckerberg just announced that both FB and Meta will fire fact checkers and use a new community notes system like X instead.
He admits fact checkers are too politically biased and that he needs Trump’s help to stop other countries from censoring content.
Elon’s courage with X is contagious. This is the boldest move Zuckerberg has ever made. He’s also moving some key jobs to Texas to account for the political bias of Meta being in California. He describes these sweeping changes as part of a culture shift that came about during the election. They’ll also begin recommending political content again which they had stopped doing as part of the left’s push to end "disinformation" which was really an attempt to stop people from getting the truth.
He says he couldn’t have made these changes under Biden because Democrats were pushing for more censorship and it emboldened other countries to do the same which put the company on a defensive footing.
It’s going to take time to see that this is a real dedication to change and not a stunt to get into Trump’s good graces (maybe in an attempt to get TikTok sold to them?) but assuming this is real, it’s a huge deal
