#asteroid hitting earth One of our readers is Jordan Wright. He runs the podcast "The Angry Astronaut." He is a researcher with few equals. He has developed a very in-depth podcast about two asteroids coming perilously close to the Earth in the next few years-2024 YR4 and Apophis.
During the late 1990s, two serious movies emerged about what would happen if a large asteroid or comet came crashing into the Earth. The films were "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon." There were a lot of elements of fiction there. Serious scientists point out that detonating an explosive device near such a celestial body while they are far away from Earth would deflect the celestial body slightly so that it missed Earth. We have a booster that could launch such a spacecraft with the explosive device on board.
Please relax as both these potential asteroids have a low probability of hitting Earth. Jordan has gone into great detail to show the massive amount of damage we would suffer if there was a direct impact. I highly recommend that you watch Jordan's podcast:

2024 YR4 Asteroid Update! The impact is even more likely as Govt cuts the NASA workforce who can stop it!
We need to have a solid contingency plan in place with funding in case we must deflect one of these celestial bodies.

We die. Oh well. Everything goes black and you wouldn't even know. Enjoy life now and not hypotheticals.

I am going to panic while I have the opportunity. The thought of Elena's lifeless scorched body floating in magma boulders in space is unbearable.

Ohomenbot doesn't worry about clot shot pathologies because he's a robot. But what about Elena? Surely vasculitis, myocarditis, pericarditis, autoimmune and neurological diseases, and turbo cancer caused by the death jab are more important to her than ohomenbot's musings on rocks whizzing around in space.

Bad ohomenbot, bad.

It would wipe out a 30 mile radius and the rest of the debris would get ejected back out into space. I don't buy the whole earth gets consumed by a fire ball nonsense. It works on the Computer models the Discovery channel made about 20 years ago, because they were trying to make entertainment. How it became mainstream science is beyond me.

If the earth was flat then that scenario would play out. But the Earth is round and has many faces, those faces are not all on the same plane. So flying debris like that would continue over the horizon out to space, it wouldn't consume Earth and the debris wrap around earth.

It would have to be a huge chuck of rock like a moon or a proto planet to really do the damage that the Discovery channel has instilled into everyone.
I think then getting knocked out of our stable orbit would reek more havoc than raining fire and brimstone on the opposite side of the globe.

The trajectory is awesome! Either it will wipe out a buncha Colombian Drugs lords or a buncha warring clans in Khartoum.
