Somali Fraudsters Pumped Stolen Taxpayer Cash into Campaigns of Several High-Profile Minnesota Democrats

According to reporting from the New York Post, more than $53,000 in stolen taxpayer money was funneled to the campaigns of Minnesota Democrats as political donations.

The funds are associated with the Feeding Our Future scandal, a scheme that allegedly siphoned off more than $250 million in taxpayer-funded federal child nutrition funds.

US Rep. Ilhan Omar’s close ties to the $1 billion welfare scam in her Minnesota congressional district are being uncovered.

Omar (D-Minn.) held parties at one of the key restaurants named in the fraud, knew one of its now-convicted owners, and one of her own staffers has also been convicted — both for stealing millions.

Omar even introduced the bill that led to $250 million in fraud. Yet she claims to have been completely unaware of it.

“[Rep. Omar] knew who these people were. People she personally knew were making tens of millions of dollars in this program,” claimed Bill Glahn, a policy fellow with the Minnesota-based Center of the American Experiment, to The Post. ...

Around $250 million was handed out by the Minnesota government to provide meals to schoolchildren during the pandemic from 2020 onward.

Instead, it was pocketed by corrupt business owners, including Salim Ahmed Said. He’s the co-owner of Safari Restaurant, where Omar held her 2018 congressional victory party.

Said was found guilty in August of stealing over $12 million for serving 3.9 million “phantom” meals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He blew much of the money on a $2 million Minneapolis mansion and a $9,000-a-month shopping habit at Nordstrom, according to prosecutors. ...



The Somali fraudsters even attempted to bribe members of a jury, with bundles of cash left at a juror’s home. ...

“When you raise your hand and call this into question, you get handed the racism card,” David Gaither, a former Minnesota legislator who spent 13 years running an adult education center in Minneapolis for Somali immigrants, told The Post.

“You’re shamed and put into a corner, especially if you’re some mid-level bureaucrat. You’re told to take some remedial training and look the other way.”

A different Omar campaign official, a Democratic activist named Guhaad Hashi Said, pleaded guilty in August to running a fake food site called Advance Youth Athletic Development, where he falsely claimed to serve 5,000 meals a day and pocketed $3.2 million out of the food program.

Said worked on Omar’s 2018 and 2020 campaigns as an “enforcer” who oversaw aggressive voter mobilization in the Somali community, according to local Alphanews.org.

Omar and Said frequently attended events together. Numerous Facebook photos apparently shared by Said show him with Omar, including a smiling selfie together. ...

“The [Somali community] have a distrust of norms in our society, like ‘Minnesota nice.’ They’re conditioned to ripping off the government because that’s what goes on in Somalia,” added Gaither.

In the Western imagination, civic trust is something both natural and infinite — the product of a virtuous feedback loop, with acts in service of the common good creating bonds of cooperation and interdependence that produce additional acts in kind. Minnesota is so trusting that there are no turnstiles to enter the Twin Cities light rail, which now has prominently posted codes of conduct that gently remind riders that it is illegal to poop on the trains or in the stations. Somalis — like the vast majority of people on earth, who do not live in prosperous or stable democracies — tend to have the hard-earned attitude that trust is a limited commodity, something to be jealously guarded and reserved only for the tiny sliver of the human race with whom they share some organic, non-externally constructed bond. Compared to the clan, or Somali culture, or Islam, the state is something meaningless or temporary, or at best instrumentally useful.

The covid loan investigation was fueled by the Minnesota Somali scammer scandal, and that investigation has now expanded across the entire state.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Oz, the new Medicare/CMS director, is also unleashing investigations, including into the Minnesota Somalis, who stole over $1 billion from Medicaid. ...

Late last week, White House Advisor Steven Miller described the Minnesota Somali scandal as the single greatest theft through welfare fraud in American history. Not only that, but “We believe the state government was fully complicit in the scheme,” he said. Astonishingly, at least 75% of the Somali population in Minnesota is on one or more welfare programs.

Most ordinary Americans are looking at all this and wondering how widespread the graft must be. Under President Cabbage, corruption apparently exploded. The investigations are only beginning, and they touch multiple key political points, including welfare, race, immigration, official corruption, Democrat dirty tricks, and probably even Somali terrorists funded by Tim Walz’s rent subsidies.

Just think: two years ago, we would never have heard of any of this, even if the FBI had stopped prosecuting January 6th tourists for ten minutes and looked into these problems.

A massive welfare-fraud scandal, involving millions of dollars in stolen taxpayer money, is now unfolding in Maine, mirroring the billion-dollar criminal scam that is currently rocking Minnesota.

A former insider has stepped forward alleging that Gateway Community Services, a Somali-owned company in Maine, systematically falsified Medicaid billing records in a scheme eerily similar to the one federal prosecutors say looted Minnesota taxpayers and helped fuel criminal networks.

Those involved in the fraud scheme, according to ICE, funneled stolen taxpayer money to Al-Shabaab, a designated terrorist organization.

Christopher Bernardini, a former “billing guru” for Gateway, told NewsNation that the organization routinely billed Maine’s Medicaid program for services never provided. ...

“When I had clients calling me to tell me their staff hadn’t shown up, and I was told to bill those hours anyway.

“It just got worse and worse until I started really putting up a stink.”

He also said the company manipulated its electronic monitoring system to make it appear that field workers were visiting vulnerable clients when they weren’t.

Gateway received $28.8 million in Medicaid funds, according to documents obtained by The Maine Wire.

The company’s owner, Abdullahi Ali, reportedly has political ties in Somalia.

Ali was billing MaineCare after returning to Somalia to run to be the Warlord of Jubaland.

Bernardini says Ali bragged about using stolen taxpayer money to buy weapons and fund a militia in Somalia.

A Somali immigrant in Minnesota is under federal investigation after posting a TikTok video in which he openly threatened to shoot Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents amid heightened federal enforcement activity targeting criminal illegal aliens in the Twin Cities.

The man was identified by the New York Post as Hasan Mohamed, a student at the taxpayer-funded Minnesota State University.

“ICE, I actually heard you guys pulled up to Owatonna, the big O, and you pulled up when I was not there?” Mohamed said in the now-deleted clip.

“Y’all so p–s-ass s–t, boy.

“You’re gonna get popped next time I see you.
