I'm reading a book by Evelyn Waugh about his travels in Africa in the 1930's, and he mentions the Afar people, so I looked them up and ran across this:
I got the former, but have no idea other than computer-generated pic. The second one here seems to be genuine. I don't think you can stand up without a head LOL
Wish I knew how that first attempt at posting this disappeared. Either someone got my password, or got into my server, or I've got early-onset Alzheimer's and don't remember deleting it myself. Or maybe there's some bug or db issue.
BTW, the Afar were called the Danakil until recently, but somehow that sounds offensive in Arabic.
Also interesting: their men are not considered men until they kill another man, so it's an extremely murderous tribe. And once they kill a man, they tend to castrate the dead guy and keep his testicles and an ornament.
Looking at the top of the neck, it looks like molded plastic, where a plastic/vinyl head on a post is then inserted into it. I would guess it's a mannequin.
But upon further inspection, look at the mountain vista in the background. The mountains in the far background looks like an artistic rendering of scenery from the Roadrunner and Coyote. Then you see a Mountain base on the left side, but in the foreground of the death valley vista in the background. That mountain base is clear and in focus. But the foot hills in the foreground of that clear mountain base, is grainy and out of focus. That is not the optics of real photography. Must be AI generated.

Wtf? The site doesn't even mention that the woman's head is missing. Any idea what's going on here?
Most likely thing is that whole page was generated by AI.
(Posted this before, but somehow this post went missing.)
