I think I'll start to change my behavior if we get uncontrolled infections in the bay area. "uncontrolled" meaning

- 10 stranger to stranger transmissions within 1 week
- multiple sources with multiple recipients (vs 1 person who gives it to 10 ppl)
- spreading on different locations and different days

I think at that point, it's very likely that the # of infected is about to explode. I think Italy just went from like 3 to 450 in 4 or 5 days or something. Maybe they had a reporting problem that caused it to appear to grow so fast, but it could have also just been a few ppl who were sick but didn't know it yet, and blissfully unawaringly spread it to many others.

I'm not really worried about myself dying, but it seems to have a mortality rate of 8-15% for older people, which is pretty high IMO. I come in contact with some older people who don't otherwise have much exposure and so I'd hate to be the one to bring it to them. Behavior will need to change at some point anyway.

Ebola is like a fast burning brush fire. It is highly infectious, but there is not a long latency period of nominal health before symptoms emerge, and the victims mostly die rapidly. They don't walk around for prolonged periods nominally healthy but actively infectious. This makes it easier to contain and quarantine, in spite of the severity of the illness.

HIV is not highly infectious, per se, but requires parenteral inoculation of some kind. However, it is carried in infected individuals for long periods when the carriers can appear to be in good health and can continue to spread it. Thus, it can spread wide and far in spite of not being highly infectious like airborne virii. Also, HIV tends to be restricted to the parenteral inoculators, so it has more predicable populations.

Coronavirus is highly infectious, but also has enough latency in healthy appearing individuals to spread, so it has a long smolder period. It is also transmitted by fomites, air and food apparently, and can get in by lungs. That is the kind that is hard to overcome. If it is weaponized and they wanted it to spread, that is the way they would have made it.

More paranoia for the paranoid? HIV homologs spliced into Coronavirus? Is his suggestion that it was designed to cause a short term flu/cold with cold spreading vectors, but have the long term consequences of HIV?

Not sure if this was already reported here, but the Chinese stole the virus from a Canadian lab, then the outbreak occurred less than a year later. The province it occurred in has more train stations than anyplace in China. The outbreak occurred within a few miles of the only lab in China certified to study a disease like that. Not saying it's intentional, just that mankind's arrogance once again proves to be his downfall. The sheer stupidity of people who think they can control nature...

Unless you're 80 running low on funds, this doesn't matter to most. Most likely didn't save anything anyway and Corona is just the right medicine for them anyway.

I'd be dumping money in now if you're under 50. Totally buying. These are one of those dips that could take 3-4 years off for private sector peeps that are 30-40 with regards to retirement.
