Do not undervalue the weather. I lived in the Northwest for ten years and while I loved it, I will never move back. Looking back, I think the weather had an effect on me and I wasn't aware of it. I was raised in a very sunny state. Moving from Los Angeles to Portland would be a big weather shock.
That said, I have a very close friend who moved there from Orange County, loves it and considers it his home. He's been up there over twenty years.

Should I buy in Portland. Live in SF n rent is $ 1000. I can buy a home in Portland for 150k n mortgage would be $ 700. Should I wait another year or two? Thanks for the help! Best of luck to all.
