According to a recent poll the biggest threat to freedom is SPENDING AND DEFICITS. Economic terrorism brought to you by your kind and benevolent government. Vote them ALL out. Happy 4th of July - Abe.

Moral relativism: Conservatives talk a good game when it comes to adhering to a rigid set of moral codes. When it comes to practice they are the biggest hypocrites as evidenced by the many scandals their leaders create. Liberals support the freedom of the individual to discover for him or herself what moral code he or she should follow. There is less hypocrisy when people are allowed to discover morality for themselves and to develop as fully actualized beings who remain true to their highest selves. It's called individualism.
The socialization of the major categories of human action: Conservatives continue to advocate for government to reach into the personal lives of every citizen to ensure that all follow whatever rigid moral system they choose for the populace. They socialize losses and privatize profits. Liberals simply like to socialize. Life is happier when you enjoy it with others.

we could agree on 90% of this if only you would agree the personal accountability is a must for society to remain safe and healthy while living free. If the moral code is not used to set laws, then are you suggesting no laws? If you agree to ANY laws, then you have a moral limit. If you want to accept the natural actions of any individual, no matter how contrary they are to the rest of a social group, then you remove any connection to a basic set of morals. What I'm saying is, there are people born with a desire to do very very very bad things to other people. Some do not do those things becasue they were taught not to or they are avoiding going to prison. SOme do those things and get caught and go to prison. Are you suggesting that a person's actions should be accepted as long as that action is natural to them?

Your point about leaders not following the perfect moral code is not a reason to remove the code. It is a reason to remove the leader. When a baseball gets hit out of bounds the answer is not to move the base-line.

All conservative votes have been challenged and/or ignored by progressive/leftist/liberal judges in Cal.

This is because people's rights aren't up for a popular vote. If you want your conservative vote to count, don't be on the wrong side of history.

I have enough protection to make it interesting as they attack.

The Valley is #1 in the nation in car theft, so I'd recommend not leaving the house, either.

Or, productive Americans may just leave California and let the libs figure out how to pay for everything --- I bet they will wanna tax Texas and Montana next. An "inter-state" tax because all of the productive people got the hell out of mexifornia and went to Tex or Montana. lol. maybe.

But Montana already has an "inter-state tax" on both California and Texas (more so on CA).

Montana gets $1.47 per. federal tax dollar.

Texas gets - $0.94
California gets - $0.78

LOL

My position is that all (lets say most) unproductive/subsidized/takers, that do vote, are D-voters.

Well, we know that rural states are immense tax-takers, and rural areas tend to be conservative voters.

Then there's our $900B military, also a conservative voter stronghold.

Defense is about twice the size of welfare, so I'd say you're wrong here, that Republicans are taking a lot more from the state than Democrats.

Yes, this is also why places like South Dakota get Homeland Security anti-terrorism appropriations to buy walkie talkies for their podunk Mountie-like police forces, while New York and Los Angeles, which are actual targets, get shorted on anti-terrorism funding because Congressmen from unpopulated states (especially in the Senate where they have disproportionate influence) earmark these funds instead of applying them according to common sense risk.

55   Bap33   2011 Jul 7, 8:42am

I think you kinda proved the point that those unproductive people on the take don't, or seldom, vote. Kinda.

But, as you well know, those that do vote are D-voters.

The military is something we all should pay for because it keeps us all safe. Also, a strong military is required to have any peace.
Gov mandated welfare is forced wealth tranfers between voters. A serious problem. Freely giving at the local church still works best for helping people that need help to get help and make better choices. In my opinion.

If "Honest" Abe had actually asked me, he could have gotten my nuanced opinion about public employee unions, which is not absolute in either direction, like his talking point is. There's no point in having the discussion.

This is where our mainstream media has failed us. They don't think critically any more or engage in honest discussion. It's all about stirring the pot without any discussion of the truth.

But, neo-con teabaggers are not interested in nuanced complex opinions or solutions. Uncompromising absolutism about anything that FOX "news" says seems to stick in their head like taffy. Even when someone agrees with them 95% of the way, all they seem interested in is screaming and complaining about the 5% bringing any solution to a grinding halt.

Main stream media has not helped peruse truth or solve any problems.

suggesting profiling for terror issues? I agree. It is the best way and should be used at all times. TSA first.

I agree that personal charity is very important, but it is never going to meet the "need", and often just amounts to band-aids on bullet wounds.

Also, while they have their roll in any community local churches are terrible as charity organizations. There is no accountability of funds, and often "administration fees" are huge, leaving very little money to end up helping the cause.

When I choose a charity I like the ones that have open books, and I can see how much of my money is actually going to go to the cause.

our militarys purpose is not to keep us safe or keep the peace, it is to protect american imperialism and its business interests. Its also a handy way for politicians to ship tons of money to businesses for shit we don't need - see the F22 fighter

I think that it's purpose is to keep us safe, but the system is manipulated to transfer wealth to the very rich and protect their interests.

Right, we don't need the F22, but there is a lot that we do need. That said the "wrong war" Iraq is a lot more expensive that the "right war" Afghanistan. We could probably still be "safe" with a pretty steep cut to military spending.

Just as long as we cut out all the bullshit.

Really THIS Lot has me embracing people like BapTresTres
I might not agree with what he says, all the time, but I just can't afford to be a Modern Liberal. What with the $50,000 dollar Canister Vac Cars and the $70 trip to the grocery store "to get a couple things", and the Mortgage sized monthly Health Tax for being healthy.

Besides they hate...
Fat People, Country People, Working People, Middle Class People, Church Going People, Religious People(Some people don't go to Church and the Libs, well... they don't discriminate), White people, Educated Black People, Black that don't take Liberal hand outs and aren't afraid to tell it like it is i.e. Black Republicans, and especially Republicans of any color they can't convert.

Oh and Women that marry republicans and they have a special place in hell for Republican Families.

$910 billion dollars. Divided by $100,000, that's 9 million jobs.

At 2' per person, that would form a line stretching 3500 miles, further than the distance from Seattle to Miami

Lots of people sucking on those teats.

ToT, we even share our weed. So you won't have to worry about going without when you slack off... I know that this is of the utmost importance to you so I wanted to allay your fears right off the bat just in case you want your membership card.

We only teach the secret handshake to Satan worshiping baby killing abortionists. I'm not sure if you want to go that far.

There's an old bus that's parked in front of my house at the moment. I think there are 4 hippies living in it. Their housing is rather cheap. It's free to park on the street and if you don't move it but for street sweeping you spend next to nothing on gas or maintenance. I'm sure there's always room for one more lib'ruhl hippie.

Restaurants throw out their food at the end of the day and some will give you full meals that they would just put in the dumpster anyway. Also there are food pantries and veggie give aways in Berkeley. There is a block in Oakland that collects all of their unwanted produce from their trees in their yard to give away at a food bank somewhere around the Grocery Outlet on Broadway around 30th Street.

Oh, and there are free clinics and Highland Hospital here in Oakland will do tooth extractions without insurance if you get a cavity.

Shit that sounds more like Big Rock Candy Mountain.

BIG ROCK CANDY MOUNTAIN

One evening as the sun went down and the jungle fire was burning
Down the track came a hobo hiking and he said boys I'm not turning
I'm headin for a land that's far away beside the crystal fountains
So come with me we'll go and see the Big Rock Candy Mountains

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains there's a land that's fair and bright
Where the handouts grow on bushes and you sleep out every night
Where the boxcars are all empty and the sun shines every day
On the birds and the bees and the cigarette trees
Where the lemonade springs where the bluebird sings
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains all the cops have wooden legs
And the bulldogs all have rubber teeth and the hens lay soft boiled
eggs
The farmer's trees are full of fruit and the barns are full of hay
Oh, I'm bound to go where there ain't no snow
Where the rain don't fall and the wind don't blow
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains.

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains you never change your socks
And the little streams of alcohol come a-tricklin' down the rocks
The brakemen have to tip their hats and the railroad bulls are blind
There's a lake of stew and of whiskey too
You can paddle all around 'em in a big canoe
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains

In the Big Rock Candy Mountains the jails are made of tin
And you can walk right out again as soon as you are in
There ain't no short handled shovels, no axes saws or picks
I'm a goin to stay where you sleep all day
Where they hung the jerk that invented work
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains
