you dont' want to jump in with too much risk, that would be gambling.
prudent thing would be considering the future of any of the stock you are buying, and than buy only some at a time spreading the risk. this works if you are not a day trader.
Buying at different price points reduces a lot of risk.
Well- as the saying goes, whenever everyone else panics, that's usually a better time to get into the market. I wish I had been more aggressive circa 2009 because if I had, those would have been up 50%. I have a lot of cash too. But I am investing now.
Oh, I'm a gambler baby! Bank of America (BAC) is calling my name. I just can't seem to turn my head around to acknowledge them.
In all seriousness, I can see the S&P going down another 8%, Dow below 10,000.
For me, it's pork bellies and the yellow.
If you really are confident of the market heading down... the look at the ETF (SH). It simulates the short (regular not ultra) of he S&P 500 (basically the opposite of SPY).
With housing it was an investment, with gold it's a bubble
Housing just like gold only was an investment when government wasn't actively meddling with it. As soon as government started their social engineering it all turned bubble.
what are the best stock nto buy today ?
we are buying bank stocks, Proctor & Gamble, Pfizer.
with gold it's a bubble
I called it a bubble when it was at $400, then $600, and again at $900...what did I call it at $1100?....oh yeah, a bubble. $1200 was a bubble, then at 13, 14, 15 and 16 hundred...all bubble.
What are we going to call it at $2000....a blister?
The problem I see with gold is not to do with it's price. It's what it represents as far as money being tied up non-productively. Richie Rich is sitting in a bunker eating caviar, singing to the gold bars. Which does what for the economy? And the more people see Richie Rich doing this, the more they want to join him. It's a visible aspect of "hoarding" that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of doom.

How do you feel about "hoarding" cash? Or more specifically, (Conservatives begin flame) the "hoarding" of wealth?

Beyond a certain point it's just sad and destructive.
Charlie Daniels "Legend of Wooley Swamp" running through my head today. Lucius Clay hiding all his money in jars and burying it all around. Why was he digging up some of the jars when he was killed? So he could run his fingers through it. The more I think about it's sick, and I just picture some perverted old man jerking off over a pile of gold coins. Then he dies and wealth is literally destroyed when it goes back into quicksand with his killers. Missed opportunities during his lifetime to enrich not just his own life but those around him.

Amen brother! I'm going to make a point to enrich someones life today.
I'm thinking about jumping in this market feet first....
Here I go..jumping in on three....
