Creating a chart where 9.0 = 8.6 is sucking at math.

Perhaps you have never taken much math, but chart creation/data plotting is something that you might see on a math test. Failure to plot it properly is an issue with math skills.

The graphic art execution looks pretty normal for a tv show. I don't see any problems there.

Exactly--if the font were unreadable or the color was too bright, then I'd agree that it was a graphic arts problem.

Knowing that 8.8 is larger than 8.6% is most certainly math shrek. Did you never plot graphs in math class? I sure did. I guess California's public schools really are as bad as they say...
