A 3 by 4 inch box of Legos cost over $24.00.
You could craft a house with the worlds finest artisans, and only the finest materials and appointments, cheaper than it would cost to build a full size Lego house.
Expensive, yes. But you'd be the envy of children on the entire street.
Interesting. According to Movoto, my house would be $870,000.
At $5 / lb bulk, that is 175,000 lbs. That is 72 m^3 of plastic. If my house is a 24 ft box with 4 sides, 2 floors and a roof, each surface is 8x8 = 64 m2. With 6 sides, that is 384 m^2 area, so that would give 6 inch walls.
At $5 / lb & 370 lbs / barrel of oil, assuming 2 lbs oil --> 1 lb lego, that is $925 / barrel of oil. That's a pretty good markup on legos.
At that price, one could make Nick Johnson out of legos for about $750.
If the feds didnt heavily subsidize the lego industry and give lego loans to liars - a lego house would be totally affordable!
Hey Gang. It's LEGOs 80th anniversary this summer, so we at Movoto Real Estate made the first ever LEGO calculator which allows people to calculate how many LEGOs it would take to build their home and at what cost.
Check it: http://www.movoto.com/blog/novelty-real-estate/build-your-house-out-of-legos/ The tool is at the end of the story.
