The motor city $20 billion in debt. How did it get to this?

I am intrigued by the "600 thrift stores" they formerly operated. That would have been where the stale goods went to die? Stinky Twinkie?

I only saw one in Vallejo in Northern California. Very sad store. Racks of old hostess cakes still on the "roller delivery" cart that they use. No one actually in the store because honestly I don't know who goes out just to buy twinkies. Getting rid of these single use stores was a great cost saving measure.
